New $35m Hotel Development for Port Adelaide

Plans have now been submitted for a new $35m Quest II Hotel development on Port Adelaide's riverfront which will comprise of 90 rooms across six storeys.

Mossop are pleased to again be collaborating with the Neville Smith Group and City Collective Architects in the development of this new hotel, following on from the successful delivery of the adjacent Quest hotel in 2016 .

Hans Ehman of the Neville Smith Group said “This hotel development will be a significant addition to the Port’s waterfront landscape and will provide a boost to the tourism sector, driving domestic and international visitor spend to the area”.

Located on North Parade, the new six storey hotel is set to add further commercial uplift, enhancing Port Adelaide’s future. It will offer guests apartment style accommodation with spectacular views overlooking the river and the hills.

Construction is due to begin at the end of 2023 and be completed mid 2025.

Port Adelaide’s $5 million footbridge receives go-ahead.

Plans are also in progress to convert the old Marine and Harbors Building on St Vincent Street into a 100-key hotel featuring conference rooms, restaurants, bars, and a gym.

Someone thinks they’re smart

I’m not trashing the idea but rather the blandness of this bridge. They could do better considering the prices of homes in Dock 1 and now Dock 2.

its a footbridge, its $5 million dollars worth or about $35 million dollars less than what the one over the Torrens cost, so if I were a rate payer in that area I'd be satisfied.

Commercial Road could be made more pedestrian friendly. Reduce the vehicle lanes, lower speed limit to 40 in between the viaduct and the wharf, a scramble crossing by Port Adelaide Plaza, Dale Street intersection and St Vincent Street intersection. Improve street lighting too.

Colac Hotel revitalisation set to breathe life into Port Adelaide’s distilling and culinary landscapes



Construction is nearing completion on the iconic Colac Hotel in Port Adelaide, with its opening just months away. Originally established in 1885, the Colac Hotel has been a staple in the community for decades.

After closing in 2011, the hotel’s revival is part of a significant development project that includes a multi-level apartment block. The Colac will retain its original name and old-world charm at the front, while incorporating modern upgrades and facilities.

Invigorating new shots of the historic venue’s development reveal an expansive space packed with promise for the latest chapter of the Port Adelaide gem. The plans are backed by an admiration of the hotel’s revered history, along with a drive to provide a fresh take on the iconic local landmark.

As a part of the Port Adelaide area’s revitalisation, the hotel is set to once again become a beating heart of the area’s ever-evolving social scene.

Owned by the Labor Party from the 70s until its 2011 closure, the former local favourite began to deteriorate, sitting idly for a decade and a half in the hope of being brought back to the glory of its bustling heyday. The pub was officially opened in 1885 and frequented by local wharfies and tradespeople before becoming vacant in recent years.

Before its early 2025 grand opening, the hotel will look to bulk up its team of talented front and back of house staff. There are positions available in the kitchen, waitstaff, sales, admin, distillery and bottle shop. For all the info and to apply, click here.

The big updates? The hotel will be host to brand new whisky and white spirit distilleries showcasing local craftsmanship through a rotation of vodka, gin and liqueurs. As the Port solidifies itself as a truly notable hotspot for food and drinks, the Colac Hotel will join the likes of Pirate Life and Milledge’s Distillation in the local drinks scene. The venue will also feature a drive through bottle shop along with new dining and function spaces.

The renovations aim to bring the hotel’s historic exterior back to life with a beautiful bright new look which preserves the iconic shape of the building. A much needed redevelopment on its interior and expansive venue extensions aim deliver a huge new chapter for the Colac Hotel.

The Colac Hotel redevelopment is part of the Dock One precinct, which includes Dock One Stages 1 & 2, and is part of the effort to transform Port Adelaide into a thriving hub.
