Northern Expressway didn't really prove anything new (but was before that plan I think). Southern Expressway proved not to do one carriageway before the other? T2T proves that traffic lights too close to the off ramp can lead to queuing on the motorway (Port Road from the north), but the revised Malinauskas plan does exactly the same thing at Anzac Highway northbound instead of the Marshall plan that had a flyover like Ayliffes Road. I'm not sure what the original Weatherill plan was.

Building the middle bit first would also have lead to the end bits being needed as they would all feed in to the best way across inner Adelaide.

It was foolish and short sighted of Government to think they can build the Northern Expressway and not widen main roads feeding to and from it.

Agree with this. Combined with the increased residential developments occurring closer to the Northern Expressway, Womma and Curtis Roads are going to need significant investment to keep up with the increased traffic flows linking the Northern Expressway to Main North Road.

I think the early plans did not have south side ramps at Curtis Road. I think it is still the only Council-owned not state-owned connection to the North South Motorway/M2. I'm not sure if the City of Playford were consulted, and how much, but it looks like Renewal SA deciding to make a nice "Main Street" for Playford Alive did not talk to Transport and Infrastructure. Renewal SA has continued to exacerbate the problem by upgrading feeder roads into Curtis Road, but dragging its feet on developing parallel streets for local traffic to not need to use Curtis Road.

Curtis Rd is a car park in peak periods. It seriously needs at least two or three lanes. It's not going to fix itself.

Opening Newton Boulevard to Stebonheath Road would move some of the school traffic off of the "main street" section. That seems like a quick win doing something that will be done eventually anyway.

We are well off track from Ovingham...
