I could be completely wrong here, but I feel as if they could be doing some work regarding the removal of the former tunnel system that used to run under the complex. It looks to be in the right location for the section of it that used to run under the old residential wing towards the boiler house. In fact, I think there’s some pics earlier in the thread when the foundations for that block were being removed where you can see the remnants of where the diesel storage tanks were for the emergency generators.

Why are there gate keepers at both North Tce entrances when there is nothing happening on site.
[SWP] Re: Lot 14 (Old RAH Site)
There always seems to be at least 10 traffic monitors across the site. I hate to think how much money's being wasted.

$60m announcement today for a defence technology academy to be built at Lot 14.
Wonder if that’s the tenancy that will see the long mooted Innovation building go ahead?

At the opening of the new park at Lot Fourteen today, the Premier said that’s where it’s going and an announcement on that building will be coming soon.Smithy84 wrote:$60m announcement today for a defence technology academy to be built at Lot 14.

Some photos from the park opening:
The Premier also brought up the Tarrkarri site (not by name), but did say a lot of work was going on behind the scenes to make sure they got that building right. He wanted it to be of global significance and worth telling friends about and getting on a plane for.

There was an article on ABC News Online last week about Tarrkarri, mostly focused on the government's heel dragging and lack of transparency:AndyWelsh wrote: ↑Mon May 13, 2024 10:23 pmThe Premier also brought up the Tarrkarri site (not by name), but did say a lot of work was going on behind the scenes to make sure they got that building right. At some point the State Government are going to have to make a decision on this rather than just keep kicking the can down the road: https://www.abc.net.au/news/2024-05-14/ ... ntent=link

Further strengthening of defence companies setting up shop here.
Bombardier Defense announced as new business at Lot Fourteen
Bombardier Defense is the latest business to call Adelaide home with the establishment of a South Australian office at Lot Fourteen.
The new workspace was opened today by Minister for Defence and Space Industries, Stephen Mullighan.
Selecting Lot Fourteen for its Australian presence ensures the business has access to a curated, collaborative research and business ecosystem dedicated to driving productivity and solving complex global challenges.
Bombardier, a Canadian company founded in 1942, employs more than 18,000 people globally and has an in-service fleet of more than 5,000 aircraft, supported by a vast network of Bombardier team members worldwide and 10 service facilities across six countries.
The company has offices across the world, with its headquarters in Montreal, Canada, and with a prominent U.S.-based facility in Wichita, Kansas, where their Global and Challenger aircraft families can be modified for various special mission configurations serving many applications.
Recognizing the company’s expanding Australian footprint, the new SA office will be dedicated for Bombardier Defense customers. Known for its custom solutions tailored to its clients’ needs, Bombardier Defense provides services ranging from turnkey packages with complete design, building, testing and certification activities, to specialist engineering support and technical oversight.
Bombardier Defense has over 500 missionized aircraft worldwide with over 3 million fleet hours and more than 160 operators in over 50 countries. It has a strong fleet of Medical Evacuation (Medevac) and Search & Rescue aircraft in-service across Australia.
Quotes attributable to Stephen Mullighan
“We’re excited to welcome Bombardier Defense as the latest company to expand its presence in South Australia, driven by the boundless opportunities our state has to offer.
“Bombardier’s decision to establish a long-term footprint in South Australia underscores the confidence in our state and our defence industry.
“Their presence is also a testament to the growing opportunities for defence companies that exist here, which will open doors for Bombardier to provide airborne capabilities to national defence and national security projects.”
Quotes attributable to Steve Patrick, Vice President for Bombardier Defense
“Bombardier Defense’s customers are shaping the world – and we plan to be right there with them to provide exceptional support and identify the best-suited jets for their needs.
“Bombardier has a proven catalogue of aircraft that bring together next-generation technology, agility and speed, making them the perfect solution for the evolving landscape in civilian, military and hybrid specialized operations.
“While Bombardier has been present in Australia for the past decade and has over 50 employees across the country, the opening of an office in Adelaide is a significant milestone for our company and our first landmark within South Australia. We are looking forward to anchoring ourselves in the region and growing our local partnerships.”

No more money for the Aboriginal Cultural Centre in the state budget.
Not a good sign.

[SWP] Re: Lot 14 (Old RAH Site)
I noticed yesterday (19/6/2024) the gate keepers are still on duty at both entrances of North Tce to the site.
[SWP] Re: Lot 14 (Old RAH Site)
With no Indigiineous Centre then what the hell is going here??? It will get to another election, Malaka will be out and then we will have his ego project shelved for another one. This is TIRESOME Adelaide. You really lack vision. FFS

[SWP] Re: Lot 14 (Old RAH Site)
I’d guess it’s unlikely they’ll be able to get sufficient private donations to hit the figure they’ve quoted for the centre, so unless the federal government fund the shortfall, it seems dead. Maybe back to the modern art gallery idea with an aboriginal art focus?
[SWP] Re: Lot 14 (Old RAH Site)
Bit harsh calling it Malaka's ego project when it was Marshall/Libs who came up with it.
If this project is well and truly dead, I wonder if any thought has gone into returning part of the land to the Botanic Gardens?
[SWP] Re: Lot 14 (Old RAH Site)
This parcel of land has not been parklands since the 1840s.
It seems that the Aboriginal Culture Gallery is dead, but to suggest returning the land to parklands, whilst affordable would be such an insipid and short-sighted waste of prime North Terrace frontage.
No one would ever visit Adelaide to see a larger Botanic Garden.
