Bentham St is much improved, but the street still needs further activation as it's pretty bland overall. Hopefully the proposal for a hotel to be built there gets up.

Some concept images have been released for Hindley Street upgrade:

It has most of what I would expect for an upgrade: narrowed roadway, raised crossings, less parking, more trees. However, it looks like the footpath treatment will be mostly concrete with occassional stone bands (similar to Rundle St) which makes me wonder why it still costs $25 million (unless the new toilets and service relocation for tree pits is very expensive).

The upgrade looks great and is well overdue. I don't think the people in the tenders represent the actual crowd though ... Where's Stumbling Sam, Drunk Dave and a random person throwing up in one of the new planter boxes? Hopefully the urban elements are all designed to take plenty of damage, including mature trees.

I'm a big fan of the upgrade concept and hope it is not watered down.

I agree, tree guards are essential. The trees on Bank St were repeatedly destroyed, and there are still two that have not been replaced.

Most likely staggered. Council have been pushing for Hindley St to be upgraded first

I know I've said it many times, but I'd rather Council address Grenfell/Grote before the other main streets.

^^This x 1000. It's great having all these events and festivals, though we need an attractive CBD. Especially a busy thoroughfare like Currie / Grenfell Street.

(should also be funded by the state government)
