Rail closure - Outer Harbor Partial Line Closure - Saturday 1 to Sunday 2 June 2024.
The Outer Harbor rail line will be partially closed across the first weekend of June, to allow construction works to continue for the Port Dock Railway Line Project.

The line will be temporarily closed between Woodville Railway Station and Outer Harbor Railway Station.

While these works are undertaken, the H1 route will operate as a substitute bus between Woodville and Outer Harbor Railway Stations.

The track works at the junction and the spur seem to be already complete, so I am wondering if the line closure is to complete the commissioning of the new signalling and its integration into the network signalling centre.

Looking from the Grand Junction bridge there are some short stretches of plain track on wooded sleepers where point work has been removed. from the OH line. White paint markings suggest replacement with concrete sleepers may be imminent.

With another km and a half added, it could rejoin the current OH line near Glanville with a station like Goodwood to facilitate a change of trains. The old alignment could be used for some loop operation, and to provide express services between the CBD and Alberton.

I think he’s one of the people who thinks that extending it over the Port River is possible. Forgetting that this brand new Port Dock station would have to be demolished to build a skyrail that would rise far enough over the river and then cut through the prime real estate being developed on the old docks.

It does seem quick. There's only one platform and no space for a second platform. If the Port Dock-Dry Creek railway reopens for passengers, it would have to share the platform.

I thought the exact same thing. 30 minute interval is terrible but I expected nothing less of course from Adelaide Metro. Needs to be a 10 to 15 minute interval especially in peak hour to be worth it.

Yikes, 30 mins is a shocker - but also not shocking. Hopefully it can increase as demand rises.

The population in and around Port Adelaide is going to increase a fair bit over the next 5 years. Hopefully by then we see at least 15 minute intervals in peak periods.
