Ffs, is it approved or not?
Its got planning approval, so they can plan it. They need development approval to actually start building the thing.

I don't know when development approval will be available. Can anyone else enlighten us? Mic, I'm sure you'd know.

It's got planning approval, but still needs to go through building rules consent before construction commences. The design specifics needs to be refined from the planning lodgment to the detailed design stage (also to get it to a stage where it can be sent out for tender to the Contractors).

this doesn't sound definitive

the Mason poster implied there are still some conditions to be met
The Advertiser understands the State Commission Assessment Panel
Very definitive:

https://www.saplanningcommission.sa.gov ... -FINAL.pdf
If you read it, that's quite a lot of outstanding reserved matters and conditions to be met there
tired of low IQ hacks

Sounds like it's going to be a race against time to get this done before the 2027 SA/NT Freemasons centenary

Hey team,

Approved. The media found out before we did which was pretty annoying because we like the members to be informed first when we can.

The reserve matters are largely additional detail that we have put off until we had the certainly of planning approval. Demolition of the rear hall is probably one of the toughest approvals you can ever achieve in planning. Everything else is just regular work.

Now that that hurdle is cleared we will get to work on the final development plan and demolish the rear hall.

Completion by July 2027 is going to be a challenge but we're on it.

Looking forward to seeing this one go up. The heritage loss of the great hall is sad, but based on the level of transparency right from the start I definitely believe that it's the overall best outcome for the site that best ensures the larger heritage of the main building gets conserved for the indefinite future.

You don’t understand growing up as a kid in the 90s and 00s was grim the city had so little development happening. To be here and to see this is epic atleast for a millennial like me

Yeah, it took 30 years after the State Bank building went up for anything new to even crack 100m.

Heck from 1991 on there was a 25 year stretch with nothing over 90m.

I was a child round then so I didn't grasp how miserable the city was. Looking back it really was grim wasn't it.

I'd say credit to steven marshall and premier malinauskaus on making the economic conditions right for all these new developments. We needed someone like mail long ago.

I can remember being a big emo teenager in 2008, scouring this website and skyscraperlife and skyscrapercity forums for new tall developments. The 122m tall 20-22 Currie St was all the craze back then. 16 years worth it!!
