yeah I saw them fitting the big glass panels on the roof today, looks great. It'll be our little version of Chadstone in Melbourne!
Definitely getting the upscale part of Chadstone vibe here, though I suspect Burnside is focusing purely on the high end market, as opposed to Chadstone catering to everyone (Chadstone has everything from Kmart to Cartier)

Yeah that's the vibe. I just worry that Burnside may fail to lure the necessary luxury brands to make the appeal of burnside work. A purely luxury retail destination.

And even if they do, I worry that if brands like gucci, cartier, LV, tiffany etc. set up stores there, they may shut-up shop within a year due to slow foot traffic, and Burnside will be left with a mid-tier luxury retail scene, like it currently has now. Burnside has 4 million annually, whilst rundle mall has 42 million annually, so obvious why LV is opening a store in rundle mall, and not burnside (yet).

Walked through it yesterday getting lunch, its lined with no-name, wannabe luxury brands lining the centre. The only good ones there is ralph lauren and Zara. They need a Rolex or a LV store to spark interest.

I’ve worked at Burnside Village and frankly, it’s a white elephant for high end retailers selling these kinds of goods; high end clothing, sure. But watches and handbags, forget it.

You realise Zara is fast fashion, it's the last thing from luxury.
Camilla, Calibre and brands of this ilk are what we call bridge luxury. They bring in foot traffic and hopefully bring people into the other stores. More of these brands are a good bench mark for the centre. Also, there are heaps of brands from the UK/Europe in this category that would fit perfectly in BS, peppered amongst the lux brands.

Id rather see most of these brands in the city too but so long as there is a shuttle/good bus connection from the city for tourists, then it shouldn't be a drama.

In comparison to all the other lack luster stores there, its luxury in my book

But it’s that Adelaide mindset that’ll allow proper luxury stores to fail. Nothing about Zara is luxury even compared to some of the other brands. It’s fast fashion, presented in a semi ok package.

its less about the mindset and more about the economy of the place

the critical mass of wealthy people just doesn't exist as it does in major cities

We currently have the best performing economy in the Country and most of the luxury stores going into Burnside will be the only ones in Adelaide. We have the population to sustain them.

In terms of the talk about luxury stores opening in Rundle Mall, these brands are not open mall stores, they’re high street or upmarket shopping centre stores. We’ll see if Rundle Plaza becomes the exception, but the expectation was that Tiffany’s would help kickstart North Terrace as a luxury shopping strip, which didn’t eventuate. No-one was expecting the higher-end LVMH stores to want Rundle Mall frontage.

The popup Louis Vuitton was a test case. I don’t know how successful it was, but we’ll know soon when we find out if the first permanent Adelaide store is at Burnside or Rundle Plaza.

They wouldn't open a popup in Rundle and then pull a U-turn and go to burnside

considering they got a popup last year, its probably going in rundle mall, mostly likely right here. The Body shop is moving from its spot below, to go next to pandora. This spot will be great for exposure for Louis Vuitton.

nah that can't be right, Adelaide Central Plaza at rundle have been lobbying LV for years and got a very successful popup last year.

There are four LV jobs available in Adelaide https://jobs.louisvuitton.com/en/search ... delaide%5D

Nevermind, I just had a phone call. You are completely right

Louis Vuitton is coming to burnside

Apparently its a temporary popup, and then they'll be building a permanent and decent sized store once the centre expansion is complete

Allegedly they have plans for a rundle mall store aswell. How cool!
