they look like light baulbs. ...I would not want to go in one of those bubbles, you wouldn't get any fresh air, would be heaps compact in there as well. Good work beach house...real good.

Apparently they are closed in as they have cooling and heating, so they are comfortable all-year round.

Re: Glenelg Entertainment Complex (New Magic Mountain)
From the picture it looks absolutely awful. Shame because at least from the front the Beachhouse looks fairly stylish. Also with all the very stylish and well designed new apartments / hotels etc surrounding it I think we have every right to have expected it would look good.
Why do we think we need to copy London anyway. Too many other cities have done that already.
There's lots of ways Adelaide could have its own iconic tourist attraction, that could be ORIGINAL.
If we had to copy London, we could have at least done a half decent job of it.
This is just terrible!
Maybe a better idea would have been a monorail that looped around the Beachhouse, around Wrigley reserve, through those new shops and into Jetty road, and back towards the beach and back to the beachhouse.
With a completely white track and a stylish white bullet-train monorail, it could have looked great as well as provided a real tourist attraction for adults and kids alike, and a great way to see Glenelg from overhead.

A monorail would be just as useless as the one in sydney.

It's a single arm ferris wheel, in an attempt to look (sort of) like the London eye. They'd have been better off just putting in a bog standard ferris wheel instead,, then at least nobody would compare it to the London eye!

Nah the ferris wheel idea is good I think, adds to the feel of Glenelg being a laid back carnival type feel.
All we need now is to bring back Luna Park! Imagine that.

it used to be where platinum on the beach now stands.
Re: Glenelg Entertainment Complex (New Magic Mountain)
IMHO its fairly dissapointing - it should be open-air.

I know I was shattered when I found out too. Apparently lots of the Sydney stuff is originally from Adelaide....CRAZY. Its closed down during the drepression apparently, plus residents complained about the noise (typical Adelaide). Thats what I remember from what I read..Cruise wrote:it was once here?
Re: Glenelg Entertainment Complex (New Magic Mountain)
There's a story around the place that the rollercoaster that was at Glenelg's Luna Park was closed after an accident sometime before the Luna Park itself was closed. So they reassembled the rollercoaster at Sydney's Luna Park at Milson's Point.

Half of the gaudy gondolas had been installed on the wheel on Sunday, with the rest on site.
