[U/C] 181 Waymouth Street | 53m | 17 Levels | Apartments
[U/C] Re: 181 Waymouth Street | 53m | 17 Levels | Apartments
Roof area steelwork is being installed - large floorplate and I hope the other apartments planned for this area get built. Will be a nice enclave of city population

Nice little cluster of residential towers that have developed in this area ever since that first Balfour's site development.
Hopefully within the next 5-10 years we see even more go up with thousands more residents.

Can't say I particularly like the aesthetic of this one. It reminds me of the white/blue glass building on Coglin Street which I've never been a fan of.

I do like the brickwork on this one. Time will tell with regards to the tower.

Crane is to come down this weekend with contingency next weekend.

Another case of render not looking like final product. I get they are done to sell a project but this looks odd. The white of the tower the blue of the window and the brown of the brick don’t really match the tower looks dated already with the white.
Will wait until completed before completely eye rolling

I disagree. Its also 1000x better than the abomination around the corner on Morphett St.

Agreed. This whole Balfours precinct mind you is a shit show from a masterplanning/design POV, so much so that it makes City Central look successful.

I don't think that it looks that dissimilar to the original render:

Im not saying it’s better but still isn’t great.

Not sure what major differences others are seeing, but it looks practically identical right down to the colour of the brick work.Llessur2002 wrote: ↑Mon Oct 14, 2024 11:00 pmI don't think that it looks that dissimilar to the original render:
Personally I'm liking it so far as well, bricks (which I assume are pre-made panels) could have been a little brighter.

The brick effect is welcome in the CBD, and in this case a nod to the warehouse across the road, without trying to copy it. The proper installation of the balcony greenery as per the renders will be critical to softening the final result. Hope it’s faithful to the render, unlike the Hanging Gardens of Whitmore Square (Bohem) and the student accom in Wright St, both of which are both mediocre in this respect years after completion. We could learn a lot about biophilia from places like Singapore.

I think it's got a slight whiff of the Eleanor Harrald building about it:
