Piling rig has finished. This hotel will be a nice addition to North Tce.

The site is moving quick. Looking forward to see what the site will look like end of the year.

Great view those balconies on the existing hotels are going to have

A couple of photos from today - there are outside stairs on the adjacent building so some better shots of the foundations.
Wondering if the foundation with the 4 columns is for the crane base?

I'd say you're correct Prodical, that looks like a crane pad to me!
[U/C] Re: 98-100 North Terrace | 79m | 23 Levels | Little National Hotel
Is it a bit odd to be putting the crane at the back of the site like that when access to the site is from the front?
[U/C] Re: 98-100 North Terrace | 79m | 23 Levels | Little National Hotel
I don't think that's the crane pad. Looks like a pad footing with starter bars for columns. Crane pad would be near the front of the site.

crane base (non Favco type) being installed on footpath at front of site today - see crane news.

A quick photo from a moving tram...
There have been lots of concrete pours lately for the slab, with a large cube of concrete on the north tec footpath with the crane base enclosed in it.
Wondering if the crane will have to start of high (ie around 16 levels off the ground) so as not to disturb residents in the apartments on either side? The heavy concrete crane base would provide stability until the crane can be anchored to the side of the building as it rises?

Crane is scheduled to go up this weekend.

I guess it all comes down to the type of crane is use. Originally I would have suggested a hammerhead crane due to flight path proximity, but with the new 27 level Festival Tower that would change OLS rules it could be a luffing crane. Also looking at the base that's in place it more than likely will be an electric crane, my guess similar to the core crane in use on the Central Markets site.Prodical wrote: ↑Mon Nov 11, 2024 5:31 pmA quick photo from a moving tram...

I drove past this afternoon and the crane is an electric luffing crane. The boom was nearly finished its assembly. No climbing collar yet, but it'll definitely need one.
