News & Discussion: CBD Retail
Re: News & Discussion: CBD Retail
If the landlord didn’t renew their lease they must have redevelopment plans. I assume the ANZ won’t be there much longer too.

Maybe an effort to capitalise on the Charles St upgrade?

If we're trying to encourage more workers to move into the CBD then there needs to be a range of options available for people of all socio-economic levels. It can't just all be designer brands & high-end international retail outlets. Rundle Mall HAS to be the local shopping centre first.
Re: News & Discussion: CBD Retail
the city already has two residential villages centred around Hutt Street and Gouger Street precincts which offer high street facilities for local residents. A reject shop in either of those areas might be more functional.
However as a former worker in that CBD area, there's also utility for a reject shop.

Yeah like, seems a bit WEIRD to have a reject shop within literally less the 50m of Tag Heur and Rolex? Rundle mall is our premier Boulevard. Can we please get rid of that shitty shop.rev wrote: ↑Thu Jan 09, 2025 11:40 amVinny has a point though.timtam20292 wrote: ↑Wed Jan 08, 2025 5:05 pmI strongly disagree with Patrick and Viny.
I am saddened to hear the Reject Shop in Rundle Mall is closing.
Is a discount store full of cheap goods what you would expect to find in what is referred to a premier shopping precinct?
I’d go as far to say the landlord was probably told by Adelaide Economic Development Agency (AEDA), to not renew the reject shops lease.

Re: News & Discussion: CBD Retail
Given some of the crap that’s on Rundle mall this shop didn’t look too out of place. But I do agree there any many other places to have this in the cdb. And if they want to attract people into town they need to start developing prominent hubs outside of Rundle mall. A lot of the others mentioned are mostly cafes and restaurants
