Unfortunately the Chinatown Food Court is already being renovated to be more upmarket and less foodcourty.HiTouch wrote: ↑Sun Jan 12, 2025 5:20 pm
This whole area feels vibrant and alive. Attention is needed on the streetscape on Grote St and past the Morphett St area. It would be nice to have some transit from Vic Square onwards to the Airport via this Chinatown Central Market area. A late night "Georgetown" style Hawker space could be a good opportunity to replace the foodcourts.

In my time in Adelaide, Hawkers Corner on West Terrace was always popular, cheap and cheerful. Its a shame it closed. Perhaps a similar concept could be reimagined for this precinct and facing Grote Street.Nort wrote: ↑Mon Jan 13, 2025 1:04 pmUnfortunately the Chinatown Food Court is already being renovated to be more upmarket and less foodcourty.HiTouch wrote: ↑Sun Jan 12, 2025 5:20 pm

I don't like the new foodcourt on the other side of the street either... no appealing options
the plaza foodcourt had a lot more atmosphere and variety

Ironically, one of the new tenants in the upgrade Plaza Foodcourt will be Cheeky Greek? Not even of Asian influence.abc wrote: ↑Mon Jan 13, 2025 5:14 pmbig shameNort wrote: ↑Mon Jan 13, 2025 1:04 pmUnfortunately the Chinatown Food Court is already being renovated to be more upmarket and less foodcourty.HiTouch wrote: ↑Sun Jan 12, 2025 5:20 pm

How is that even allowed? Just like when Nordburger was in Chinatown for a bit.

It's The Greek Palace that's opening in the market plaza, not Cheeky Greek.Patrick_27 wrote: ↑Mon Jan 13, 2025 8:58 pmIronically, one of the new tenants in the upgrade Plaza Foodcourt will be Cheeky Greek? Not even of Asian influence.
In Melbourne's Eaton Mall in Oakleigh, basically a Greek mall, you can find the odd Asian shop now too. The only people who seem to have a problem with these sorts of things, is bigots. That, and people with a personal vendetta against a prominent family of a certain ethnic background.
