[COM] Festival Plaza Tower 1 | 115m | 27 Levels | Office

If you ever wanted literal physical proof of corruption in politics and dodgy loopholes - this is it. The whole naming thing is a dog's breakfast, Walker is laughing all the way to the bank with whatever deal was given to him to get away with this absurdity.
Any views and opinions expressed are of my own, and do not reflect the views or opinions of any organisation of which I have an affiliation with.

That photo really is a perfect snapshot of all the corruption around this development, looks like a political cartoon.

Rather funny actually.
You all think it’s a dodgy deal with developers but clearly it’s just the state government trying to get festival plaza completed and suitable.
All the Gov wants is more premium office space, and that’s what’s driving Festival Tower 2.
You guys sound like conspiracy theory loonies saying these people control government. May I remind you that state law passed last year says that political donations are now totally banned. These companies just want better office space, and it just so happens to be located behind Parliament House.
Move on.

Funny thing is the Westpac logo will be completely blocked by the new tower anyway.

It’s just so bland and miss managed. Represents ADL development all round.
Nice to see others are happy with this I guess. They’d worship a 300 pole in the ground at this point.

Viny, you're one to talk. With all of these proposals and developments, you are the lapdog for any and every developer in Adelaide. What's actually driving Festival Tower 2 is Walker Corp buying and bullying their way into maximising their gains from the contract they signed regarding this precinct, the Labor government having no spine have opted to cash in on Walkers demands and expectations by allowing for a proposal to get up which they could then relocate the Department of Premier and Cabinet/Treasury from Vic Square. What did we, the taxpayer, gain from this? A massive carpark, that we're still required to pay for and is really only there to benefit the Casino and on occasion patrons of the Festival Centre, and a public plaza that hasn't delivered on any of its design outcomes; rarely used for public events and with virtually no hospitality offerings accessible for the average person.VinyTapestry849 wrote: ↑Sat Jan 18, 2025 10:58 amRather funny actually.

"Completed and suitable" are the words of someone who clearly hasn't taken a walk around the precinct, and if you have, you must have been blindfolded. Adelaide needs premium office-space, sure, there are plenty of other CBD sites sitting dormant that the government either owns or could own to push for these needs (the old bus terminal on Flinders Street, for one). And those laws only extend to election buying donations, these companies we're talking about want their presence and branding on a building that will not at any point in time be interrupted by neighbouring development and in the case of Deliotte, will always be in every postcard shot of Adelaide CBD, in every television frame for events at Adelaide Oval and The Drive and so on.

I was looking out the window of our office and noticed the Westpac logo had been installed. It looks a bit stupid, in my view. It should have at least been placed in the centre rather than right next to the Flinders one.

It’s placed the way it is because there’s another tower going up next to it. If it’s in the middle it won’t be seen by anyone.Ursus Maritimus wrote: ↑Mon Jan 20, 2025 9:57 amI was looking out the window of our office and noticed the Westpac logo had been installed. I reckon new towers would be better if they were designed without having logos slapped on them.

I reckon the new towers would be better if they were actually designed to be better. You can still have attractive buildings with logos on them.
