[COM] Re: #Under Construction: Conservatory on Hindmarsh - 61.5m 18lvl
Considering all these other lurking chaps are crawling out of the woodwork, strangely enough in the COH thread of all places, I might as well also publicly announce my existence. I've been regularly coming to this site (and Skyscrapercity) for about two years, but was always content to observe and never contribute. But in recent times, I figured that maybe I should. Probably my main interest/hobby has always been videogames, but architecture/buildings/construction also captures my interest. I'm 21 years-old, and have always lived in Adelaide (in the same house in the suburb St Georges).
Oh, and does anyone here visit the website IGN? It's one of the biggest, most popular and most comprehensive games/entertainment websites on the Internet. I've been a user on the message boards for over six years. Just interested to know.

Well going from the renders, this will bring a lot more modern architecture to the East End, which is great to see.

Sorry to keep this off topic, but IGN is a worthless piece of crap. If I ever meet a "reviewer" from there I will twat them. They have no idea what they're talking about and I suspect it is policy to give games shitty reviews unless the developer/publisher "meets the advertising targets". But then, they are owned by our beloved Advertiser's parent company so I guess I shouldn't expect too much.Plasmatron wrote:Oh, and does anyone here visit the website IGN? Hi I'm new to the forum, i just wanted to make a note about the new hotel/apartment proposed on the current academy cinema site.
i love the visuals, but i'm dissapointed they have not provided any perspectives of the street life. hello!! this is what they keep getting wrong in Australia in general. where are the cafe's, the shops, and an integrated space which connects with the very interesting segment of Hindmarsh Square...?
when will we learn..? in europe they have lively places almost in every pocket of the city. the streetscape of this proposal is equally as important as 'how it looks' and will ultimately determine the success and reputation of the building in the future.
just a thought.

The project will include 5 or 6 retail tenancies on the ground floor.Hippodamus wrote:Hi I'm new to the forum, i just wanted to make a note about the new hotel/apartment proposed on the current academy cinema site.

That part of Hindmarsh Square will probably need to be redeveloped once the Crowne Plaza development is complete

Excellent This building looks VERY imposing from the east side. Hindmarsh Sq will look impressive when all these buildings around it are completed.Would love to see one in the NW corner - some old and decrepit buildings in there - currently evident from the PR shots I have from Hines.
ADELAIDE - TOWARDS A GREATER CITY SKYLINE.

i also think the eastern and south-eastern sides of the square are in dire need of a facelift.
