https://dit.sa.gov.au/infrastructure/ro ... on-upgradeRichmond Road and Railway Terrace Intersection Upgrade
About the project
We are upgrading the Richmond Road and Railway Terrace intersection at Keswick, making it easier to travel between the western suburbs and the city.
This upgrade will also improve access to major shopping and sporting precincts at Mile End.
The $70 million project is part of the $850 million package of broader network upgrades, funded by the Australian and South Australian governments as part of the River Torrens to Darlington (T2D) project.
Project timing
The project is currently in the design stage. We look forward to sharing more information as the Project progresses

It looks like the parks that are off the main corridor are being reasonably well looked after - probably because they have been handed over to councils to maintain (who are mostly well equipped to look after parks because that's part of what we pay our rates for). But the motorway corridor itself is woeful, presumably because nobody within DIT has any expertise, interest or political sway to make landscaping a priority. (Which dovetails in with the inadequate cycling and pedestrian infrastructure).

Even letting some schools/community groups to look after it would be goodListy wrote: ↑Fri Dec 20, 2024 9:37 amIt looks like the parks that are off the main corridor are being reasonably well looked after - probably because they have been handed over to councils to maintain (who are mostly well equipped to look after parks because that's part of what we pay our rates for). Demolition between Southern Tunnel exit and SDB is well underway along the whole trench corridor. Makes me wonder what the schedule plan will be for construction. Obviously the access is needed at the ends for entry/exit of the tunneling machines, but will the rest of the trench be built years before this section can open, or will it be left as a bunch of bare ground for the next couple of years? Perhaps they'll open this trench section before the tunnels are ready?
[U/C] Re: M2 North-South Motorway
Is there a current timeline published anywhere? An open trench with all the crossing services bundled and managed might take just as long as drilling a tunnel below them all.Nort wrote: ↑Tue Dec 24, 2024 10:28 amDemolition between Southern Tunnel exit and SDB is well underway along the whole trench corridor. Has anyone seen any engineering of how the motorway is intended to cross Brownhill and Keswick Creeks? Will they be on canal bridges over the trench, or siphons under it with some mechanical maintenance system to keep silt clear? Or will the motorway be near surface level with bridges over the natural flow levels of the creeks?

The new Majors Road bridge is complete, with traffic being moved onto it later today/tomorrow when the road reopens (the road has been closed for the past week).
The old bridge will then be closed while works on the former carriageway take place. This will include demolition of the footpath on the old bridge, kerb installation, and excavation and construction of the new veloway underpass

Is there any changelog? I think the pedestrian bridge just south of Richmond Road might be new?ChillyPhilly wrote: ↑Fri Jan 31, 2025 4:27 pmT2D Project Map has been updated.

Added detail to road placement, naming of the new footbridge in St Mary's, road/lane markings, clarified repurposed buildings (e.g. RAA).Nort wrote:Is there any changelog? Completely. I can't understand of the life of me why the intersection couldn't be pushed a few meters further north to the land that's being vacated by the crash repair place etc and is earmarked for landscaping.ChillyPhilly wrote: ↑Sun Feb 09, 2025 10:18 pmAn unnecessary loss imo.rev wrote:West Thebby hotel closing in July.
It's not like the whole West Thebby block is being used, just a tiny sliver of it.

[U/C] Re: [U/C] Re: M2 North-South Motorway
I imagine that when they decided they needed the turning lane it was cheaper and easier to just acquire the site than adjust the other plans slightly. Plus it gives them an extra bit of green space to tout how this is all actually an improvement for the local area, despite precedent showing it will likely end up being gravel or concrete with a sad tree if that.Llessur2002 wrote: ↑Mon Feb 10, 2025 11:42 amCompletely.
