Accounting firms EY and PWC, the ATO (Australian taxation office), and the Commonwealth are in talks about becoming anchor tenants for the new tower.
More announcements in coming weeks.
How? This development
hasn't even been approved yet. How can anyone be satisfied the blatant corruption the surrounding this development? It hasn't even been approved, and yet ground works have commenced, tenants are being sought after and it's having its moment in all the local media?
Furthermore, EY, PWC and the ATO are currently reside in the GPO precinct, so what's that going to do to that part of the CBD if these tenants relocate?
The whole saga definitely has a strong odor to it.
Yes, the tower has the potential to be a nice piece of architecture, but that doesn't mean it's inherently a good thing...

So you think that Frome central tower was approved without locking in its hotel deal with Crowne plaza?
Or that Masonic lodge was approved without Marriot/westin hotels & resorts signing a contract.
Negotiations happen well before the approval stage my friend.

Plus, the state government departments (DSD, DEM, SACE) will later next year be vacating the former City Central Tower 1 and relocating to the Market Precinct. It's also pretty certain nearby departments like DPC will be eying off Festival Tower 2 considering how very old the entire state admin precinct is.

It might be nice to finally join the 'skyscraper club', though this whole thing reeks of corruption.

Not when it's on public land and the state government are one of the main stakeholders; and that also applies to the practise of handshake agreements on such things. Labor's handling of this precinct under Weatherill/Malinauskas is no less f*'*ked up than John Olsen's handling of the Motorola affair in the 90s. And it's actually concerning how many people on here and beyond are OK with the government making such decisions without ANY public consultation given the use of public land. The N/WCH (whether we all agree on its location or not) had the mandate of the last state election result. The closest this precinct came to being an election issue was Weatherill versus Marshall when Marshall wanted to hand the land back to AFC for them to conceptualise its future, Marshall lost that election and Weatherill's initial plan of ONE high-rise and ONE three storey building progressed. Frankly, I want to vote on this issue because I would so quickly as vote for Tarzia despite the fact that his personal ethics and demeanour give me the ick because Malinauskas has zero accountability for anything he does in the way of these sorts of projects. And for the record, I'm traditionally a left-leaning/Labor voter.

Nice to see people are finally waking up to Malicious Mali's bullshit.
Not that Tarzia is any better.
At this rate, I'm drawing dicks on my ballot paper next state election. The corruption behind the whole Festival Plaza concept stunk from the start.

The way that this project has been given the inside running on public land is annoying - but I can accept that for an iconic building which brings life and centre of gravity to that area.
I am more upset about my tax money paying expensive rent for the ATO and Commonwealth government staff in such a prestige building. How is this value for money when there are other suitable buildings available in Adelaide?
And I wonder if the Premier's office will end up there.
Anyway, I am really pleased this skyscraper is going ahead - and it would be a brave SCAP that knocked it back.

Flinders had started negotiations before the first brick was laid. The initial staff announcement was in 2019, and the need to move the city campus would have been known a while before that. If you know where you want to be in a few years, you have more options.

Mate, there's a gaping hole in the ground. This tower is going up.
And I believe I posted about the 'twin tower' quite a while ago before the FT1 went up, not sure if that post survived any post culls by the mods, but it's been well known about in some circles that there were going to be two towers going up here.

3 advertising zones makes me nervous.... Seeing what they did with FT1 I'm expecting this distinctive facade to gave a 10 level EY logo overlooking the plaza now....

If it was large scale LED panelling, it would be cool. But it's not. It never is in Australia.

There should be an additional checkbox on every electoral ballot whether it be State or Federal - and it should be at the bottom of all the candidates and it should allow people to choose the option "NONE OF THE ABOVE".
It would allow the political parties especially the majors that the general public is not happy with either of them and this 2 party system which basically guarantees that either will be in power.

The ONLY suitable place for signage on the northern facade is where I’ve circled in red.
Anywhere else will look dogshit and ruin the facade.
