Are they demolishing those lovely heritage cottages, or are they going to retain the facade or build behind?
[SWP] Re: 134-136 Wright Street | 58m | 16 Levels | Motel
It looks like the front facade and side walls are being incorporated into the design. The roof has been taken off.

Just went for a snoop around this site to see where they're at. The front half of the roof is still off, and scaffolding has been put up around the chimneys.

The rear of the cottages actually looks quite recent with the grey cement blocks. Im guessing the rear was built in the 1950's possibly?

I think this one has stalled. No action for a couple of months or more.
[SWP] Re: 134-136 Wright Street | 58m | 16 Levels | Motel
Yes the only change I have noticed is the chimneys were taken down and the bricks stacked in the back yard (presumably for re-use)
[SWP] Re: 134-136 Wright Street | 58m | 16 Levels | Motel
There was a notice tied to the fence a couple of months back basically saying that they had been ordered to stop work because they had illegally demolished or damaged something. Not sure if that is still there or not.

Oh interesting I might go and take some pics over the weekend to see if we can work out what it was
Edit: Considering the renders feature the now-missing chimneys, that might be a clue what the issue is

Went past today for a stickybeak. No sign of the notice you saw dbl96 but that neat pile of ex-chimney bricks out the back is looking suspicious in context.

Funnily enough temporary crane on site today with lots going on.

Chimneys are down. Interesting.
This was one of the main parts of contention to getting Local Heritage support.
Maybe we'll see some concrete flues go up to replace them

I assume they were pulled down to facilitate construction of the tower to be rebuilt at a later date. Would make sense. But you never know!
