[SWP] Re: 134-136 Wright Street | 58m | 16 Levels | Motel
Update 5 /4/2025 every thing apart from the front wall and the front part of the 2 sidewalls has been demolished (or fell down). The saved walls are been supported by thin-sectioned steel work- so much for saving the roof and chimneys.
PS any one want a second hand TV.

It could be possible that this is partial demolition, followed by re-engineering/structural work, then rebuilding the walls, roof and chimney. I reckon there's a reason all of the bricks/stone have been stacked into specific piles.

I think you're right. I reckon those bricks will be used to rebuild the chimney.
I've yet to see a building being demolished with structural beams and pins to hold up walls. And those pins travel up the side wall/roof portion of it.
I think people have jumped the gun a bit, if they wanted to demolish it it would have been carted off to the recycling yards at Wingfield already.

I don't think demolishing the side walls was part of the original plan, else they wouldn't have been depicted preserved in heritage condition in the renders. Combine with the stop work notice previously mentioned over destroying something they shouldn't have and it makes me think there is more to the story here.
Perhaps "whoops I accidentally demolished something integral to the structure of the building; need to gut it and start again" is the 2025 version of "whoops I left my heritage property unsecured, squatters got in, started a fire and now it needs to be demolished; never mind I'll just clear the site and start again".

Still better than the Carlton Inn version from Melbourne about 10 years back, which was essentially: knock it down sting job over the weekend, pay the fine, wathca gonna do? The answer was: get ordered to rebuild it brick by brickBobski wrote: ↑Sat Apr 05, 2025 7:21 pmI don't think demolishing the side walls was part of the original plan, else they wouldn't have been depicted preserved in heritage condition in the renders.
