L.C house is a shocker, I will be glad to see it demolished and something modern and taller to replace it.

Curious about this large apartment tower but understand that you can't reveal any information at the moment. Can I ask what is your job UrbanSG?

Yeah I hate doing teasers but my mouth really does have to stay shut on this one :D Just never know who is watching this website seeing as it is so popular. I suspect a few of my fellow work mates also look at this site from time to time. I work in the urban planning/construction field crawf.

Adelaide definitely needs more apartments. Compare the number of apartments available for sale or rent in and near the city on realesate.com.au with other cities in Australia. It would be great if we could see a new high-rise with 100 or more apartments from studio to 4 bedrooms breaking ground every quarter.

Ahh cool

I would love to see a 90m+ apartment tower on the renaissance arcade, it would really give the skyline a nice boast.

I was thinking today that adelaide needs a set of towers similar to the rialto towers in melbourne, but they don't have to be as tall. Something like 150m towers would be cool and throw in some nice curved glass facades instead of just building the same old straight single tower blocks.

Professor wrote:There is a new development planned for the SW corner of Hutt and Angas street. The signs went up yesterday for a 4-level apartment complex called East Apartments. It would be nice to get rid of the open carpark there with its old iron fence. That wasteland has been there since they shamefully demolished (in the middle of the night) the original House of Chow heritage building.
I think you'll find the site of the proposed "East Apartments" was actually the old Hutt Street Hospital site, which sat as a derelict run down building for some years before being taken down.

Anyone got any information or renders on the Regent Arcade redevelopment?

Quite a bit of activity on the site today, I could just see the interior of the old disused cinema and it looks like they are going to give the arcade a major revamp.

There's some pics here: http://www.internode.on.net/contact/150grenfell/

I saw the sign on the side of the building the other night, it's quite bright, and can be seen all the way down Grenfell Street and into Currie Street.

From memory, that was Clarksons (glass) showroom & offices, & was a steel & glass box that was refurbished in the early 1980's with the complementary building to the east being built around the same time. The refurb was an improvement on the original box.
