There was never anything more unappealing than getting off the tram at 11pm in a deserted Victoria Square, even on the busiest Saturday nights.
Well, when sober, anyway.

Being on a Tram also offers a certain element of safety that the trains generally don't provide and that is being in the middle of traffic, pedestrians, feeling like your not as isolated as opposed to the train. Just the psychological effect of feeling more secure with busier surroundings.

Very average shot late at night but here's Flexity 105 (Tour Down Under tram). Will this be the best looking tram yet?

Everyday I go to work or drive through the city there is a fair bit of rubbish lying over the stops or on the tracks near the stops. This may seem like a minor detail but it along with permanent timetables will finish the stations off nicely.
The grass layed in and out of the Victoria Square sections was completely stupid considering the drought and water restrictions. It looks terrible now. They should have used true innitiative and planted native low lying grass species that look almost the same as grass and can still be trodden on and hardly grow even 1cm tall. Or placed dripper irrigation underneath the grass which is a new trend. Basically english grass and Australia don't mix! How much longer until we realise this.
I thought this. It'd be nice if they reinstalled them in the Railway Station too. Were they removed because of security concerns? If so, that's a rather paranoid action.

The bins were removed in case of a terrorism attack.

BS, does that mean that all the bins that are placed around the city/rundle mall/rail station are subject to terrorist attack?
And BillD, cool photos, what camera are you using?
The new tram and extension is the best investment in Adelaide so far.

Yes. Now you can actually get off a tram near where you want to be in the evenings, and not have to travel through as many darkened side streets, past goodness knows who stumbling out of alleys and whatnot. As you say, the tram's presence right at street level does create a greater perception of safety, IMO.

It's something the IRA liked to do in the London Tube.
But yes, I agree, it's just paranoia.

They were removed because of security concerns, and every time I want to use a bin I am reminded of a certain religion and some of its adherents. I haven't noticed a lot of rubbish on the new tram stops, but the stuff in the trains keeps the cleaners busy.

I am not being predictable here, but if there were to be a terrorist scare targeting bins, the first city to be hit would be big Sydney, not little Adelaide. I know it does not hurt to be more concerned and take precaution, but the lack of bins can be frustrating sometimes.

Saw it today at KWS/Currie/Grenfell traffic lights, just after 4pm, heading towards City West. Unfortunately I didn't have my camera with me today, but I agree with BillD, it certainly is the best one so far (I think the red Maccas one is hideous).
