Are there any updated renders showing these proposed changes?Ben wrote:DA/876/2007
This is on public notification for the amended proposal. the design is essentially the same but it takes in an additional two properties which were north east. These properties were bought off the owners that made complaints in the DAP meeting. The total floorspace is now 44,000sqm.
The hight is still the same at 168m AHD and in the report from AAL refers to Westpac as 171m AHD and 181m AHD to top of lightening rod so it may appear to be of similar height to Westpac.
There is to be a restaurant on the top floor.
They have had investigations done on the glare from the sticking out part and have found there to be no problems. So there is no reason why this amended proposal should not be approved. This will look far better then the original from the north side now that the entire length of that wall will be flush.

Not on the ACC site but the only design change is to the Northern wall which will now be flush wheras before it came in a bit and then jolted out. the new design should be easier on the eye.bm7500 wrote:Are there any updated renders showing these proposed changes?Ben wrote:DA/876/2007

New elevations were released but no new renders. As I stated in a recent post the major changes are a move of the lift core and therefore no externally visible lifts and the northern elevation now contains a slighter but longer curve to it. Thankfully there is still a curve though. It is good to get away from the typical glass box look of late.

Thanks guys!
Totally agree!UrbanSG wrote:.... the northern elevation now contains a slighter but longer curve to it. Thankfully there is still a curve though. It is good to get away from the typical glass box look of late.

The curve is what makes this one stand out. Glad it was retained and should look even better now it is longer and shallower.
What really interested me also was the stress levels exerted on the rest of the building by such a pronounced cantilever projection. (as prooposed originally).

Just so not to confuse anyone the curved section I am talking about refers to the northern elevation not the cantilever section on the southern facde.

I've spent a disgraceful amount of time looking through this thread yet again, and I really can't wait for this building to commence construction. I hope that it is properly finished, and attention is paid to all the finer details of construction, because any sort of recognition for this building will only demand greater quality from other developments proposed for Adelaide in the future.

If they build it, they better not forget about the illumination of this building at night.

A few good neons at the top would not go astray - eg for the restuarant in the top floor. Would certainly add to our skyline. Adelaide is in need of this aspect in the CBD. Would detract from the 'dead' look so often levelled at the city.

Because of the height of this project, Im sure the airport authority will make sure it is well illuminated.

By way of that reasoning, not much to be seen on Westpac bldg. however.fast_forward wrote:Because of the height of this project, Im sure the airport authority will make sure it is well illuminated.

Just for your information, this application (DA/876/2007) will be presented to Council's DAP at its meeting on 21st January. The meeting starts at 5.30pm for those interested.

Thanks for that info Dave, hopefully one of the forum members can make it down on the night and give us a round-up?

Pardon me, may I ask what application is that? I thought it has already been approved and ready for construction sometime later this year?
