Does anyone know where we are with this one? Has the Hines group submitted a DA yet? I know with the previous proposal, it was knocked on the head due to breaking height limits, it was then declared a major project by the government, and then nothing. So, can anyone shed any light??

Well, there would be no way anyone here hasn't heard of this one yet, since it's on the homepage!!!

I talked to Pants about this, and this is what i've pieced together:
The first proposal was 26 storeys. I spoke personally with the planner at Planning SA who denied approval. I can't remember the numbers, but he wanted it chopped to about 9 levels or thereabouts (the height limit was 6 levels). The minister also denied the application.
A revised 19 level version was proposed. I think it was you, Pikey, who originally announced that the revised version had been approved. By whom I don't know, but i've seen no reference to it in ACC's monthly development register, so i'm assuming it was planning SA.
Is the building in that render approved for construction? We don't know. We've got 2 renders, both 19 levels, both different designs. One render we know is from the developer's website. The other render, as posted above, is from the Ozscrapers member. We don't know his source of the image. That's what we need to find out.

That's the thing, if have a look at the Capcity website, the project actually has 2 towers, but I can't see that being right.
Maybe Al who supplied the render can shed some light?

I'll pick his brains tomorrow The impression i got from him was that it was a near certainty, but he didn't elaborate any further on it.

Here's what I know. The building will be 18 levels, 68m high and will be 4.5-5 star Aust. greenhouse rated. It has been granted Major Development status by the State Government. The DA for this is "expected by 30 July 2005" (I take this to mean that the DA has been lodged and it should be approved around this time), the construction should take 18-20 months and tenants should move in around late 2007 or early 2008. The building will be a mix of retail (RAA on the ground floor), car parking (levels 2-4), commercial (6-9) and apartments ( 10-18 ). At the moment, Hines is trying to secure a main tenant I think and this will dictate the name of the building. Apparently, the entrance will have an illuminated glass canopy with a "feature glass shaft" above it housing two elevators!
I'll post another pic which will clarify the confusion with the render on SSC.com.

^ Still, if that's enough to get the tower through though....
If a bit of Enviromental sensitivity is all that's needed to get a tower through, let's stick a 100m tall wind turbine on Bentham, wullah, a new tallest!
