Yes you are right it is bloody disgraceful, if fact i find it absolutely appalling that the SA government expect the public to use a Station like this.
For 50 and a half years I lived in South Australia and now I live on the Central Coast of NSW. Rail infastructure in SA needs to be on the same level as Sydney's Infastructure expansion. They proved that they can do it with the Mawson Lakes Interchange. My only complaint is that they have made the platform that goes to the City first class but the platform to Salisbury is not.

I am a firm believer of improving the Railcar services in Adelaide and the infastructure work has to be hand in hand with the improvements of the rollingstock, you cannot have one with out the other.

When the Oaklands Interchange is done then the Government needs to work on another. Perhaps it is time to re-introduce services to Northfield and further out on that line.

The question is, will the Government spend the money.

A significant portion of spending on rail infrastructure in Sydney revolves around fixing capacity constraints that currently exist on the CityRail system through a program called Clearways. It is important that existing constraints or potential ones be dealt with first before expanding on the network, otherwise the potential capacity of new links remains below what it could be. This is an issue that has been bugging the CityRail network since the mid 20th century, lots of new lines have been built into new areas without upgrading the capacity of existing corridors, hence the limited capacity and knock-on effects of delays occurring. Before Adelaide's rail network expands, some of the potential capacity limitations that should be dealt with include the limited capacity at Adelaide Station for terminating trains, trains conflicting paths at junctions such as Goodwood and additional tracks on some of the rail corridors (Belair line in particular).

There are some expansions occurring on the CityRail system of course, the most current example being the Chatswood to Epping link in northern Sydney. There is also the planned north-western and south-western expansions, which will follow on from the quadriplication of the existing East Hills Line.

The roof structure appears very interesting. A vast improvement to the old station. I just wish this would hurry along already.

I saw the steel roof support in position before Christmas - went back today expecting it to be nearly complete, and the support had
gone. Probably no point erecting it before the platform is paved, but the kerbing & road base for the bus interchange is coming
along. Should be in use by next Christmas.

No it shows a government that is being clever with money. Why spend money on a station in which isn't going to be used any more. It's a waste of money and people power to fix it, this giving the government more money to spend on a modern interchange instead.
