[COM] SGIC Building > GHD Building Redevelopment
[COM] Re: #U/C: SGIC Refurbishment
There is a colour render up on the hoarding outside of this now. Doesn't look like the facade is getting reclad or even painted but that was just a quick look in passing on the tram.
Also naming rights have gone to GHD engineering which currently occupy Adelaide's ugliest building (IMO) the red and green brick building on Grenfell St.

The ground facade looks good to me!
So does that mean that GHD will move their operations to this building? Then it will be a disappointment, because GHD is involved in architectural division, and the refurbishment on the existing SGIC building did not show an aggressive artistic involvements at all.

From what I understand they concentrate on infrastructure and traffic mangement... This building is 100 times better then there current premises...Edgar wrote:The ground facade looks good to me!

I hope something is done to the cladding or even a paint job. It looks old and tired, we have enough sandstone buildings in Adelaide.
On another note with GHD moving out that awful red brick building, does that mean we will finally see something done to it (like bomb explosives - one could hope.

I agree Ben, from my passing look at the render sign on-site this evening, it looks like the same cladding (and colour) we have now I hope we are wrong and they do install some new cladding or at least paint it.

hi all, i drove past today and there was a picture of the refurbished building on the fence surrounding the lot, all that had visablly changed were the windows, there was no cladding or paintjob, but i have to add, it did look very nice in the picture

It's certainly a big improvement, just a pity it doesn't go further.
Thanks for the scan Done.

The glass podium certainly looks interesting, I would hope it contributes to revitalising Victoria Square with retail tenancies.
I took a photo today of latest update.

Drove past there today... there's a render of the finished product on a sign out the front.
Only saw it very quickly from the bus. If anyone's going past, it'd be great if someone can grab a quick happy snap.

The podium looks good but other than that, I rate this revamp - average. It needs a re-clad or a paint job.
The new glass is good, but it just does not cut it.

Thanks for the pics sam. A simple coat of paint or additional cladding would make it look a lot better.

What is they stuff they used on the black building with the orange corner stripes down on KWS, I think its at the corner of Grenfell/KWS and it looks like a panelling of the facade. I think they should use this stuff onto the building in a white-grey colourtone.
[COM] Re: #U/C: SGIC Refurbishment
Even a repaint of the existing render would make a huge difference.
I went to West Lakes Mall the other day and the old tired concrete & rendered facade has been given a paint in attractive grey and white. Looks 1000 times better!
