I see no reason why these need to be in the CBD. What they do need is good public transport and road links and ample, easy, free parking at each of them.

These are the things that make Adelaide better than other Australian cities. Let's not spoil that!

I will be more than happy with these places when i see a plan to improve transport there. As ive said before i dont want to see the government spend 1 billion on a new stadium, i think its a waste of money. But Football park is where it is and i'm happy to live with it, when i see a plan improve transport there. I also like the fact the SANFL owns the rights to its own stadium, not like how the MCC holds the VFL to ransom.

Just a bit of nit-picking at your logic: Centralisation is the best way to create effective public transport. Decentralisation discourages public transport. Patronage justifies investment, which generates patronage, and so on.

I think that's only half of the story. The problem with Adelaide is that in terms of transportation it is too centrally focussed on one area, that being the city centre. For example, from where I live there is only one bus route I can use and the only destination I can reach is the city. To create effective public transportation, there needs to be numerous focal points on the network, in a familar fashion to the way some airports around the world serve as major hubs linking other smaller cities together. The site for the State Swimming Centre isn't so bad as long as the two nearby interchanges (including the one u/c at Oaklands) are served well by buses and trains, those could certainly use some improvement in terms of levels of service.

Well its not going to happen, so lets just fix up Keswick (which is now starting to happen). World Park will hopefully kick start more development and make Keswick a busy and vibrant suburb, a tramline and a complete revamp of Keswick metro station would help aswell.

Cruise, there is a big difference between the number of people going to a Swimming Event than to a AFL match.

What about the thousands that use it daily for swimming / water polo / diving etc training or for recreational use?

Well if it is for recreational use then im sure your local swimming centre will suit your needs.

The Marion council has merely just upgraded their swimming facilities for their residents. I wouldnt be blaming Marion for having an international standard pool, as it is the fault of other councils (most probably ACC with the north adelaide aquatic centre) not giving a rats toss about their residents needs. If you feel you have to travel all the way to marion to enjoy a decent swimming session, then id be putting in a partition to your local council.

However if its becuase you will have to travel 10 years to get to an international swimming event you are pissed off then, again, blame ACC for taking their sweet ass time to build a decent swimming stadium. Actually no, they werent taking their sweet ass time, there were NEVER any plans for ACC to build anything!!
