Looking back, you're right about the carparking being above ground - still a shame to have to lose the old warehouse (which looks like it is still being used, though not as a warehouse) to make way for it though.

As for the cafes and entrance on Gilbert Place, didn't the original proposal not include the buildings on Gilbert Place? I thought they were bought afterwards and the plan was then altered to include demolition of them.
cheers,

Ridiculous comment. Thankfully the people on the City council have far more intelligence and good taste than you.

Gilbert Street is one of the absoute gems of Adelaide. Name all these laneways that are comparable to Gilbert. If anything Adelaide has far too few of these types of streets. There is no reason this building can't get built while maintaining (or enhancing if done right) the charm and character of two of Adelaide's great little streets.
What's intelligence got to do with personal taste? I don't call you stupid for your opinion about it being a gem. All i can say is the council is too touchy and conservative.
Lack of intelligence for suggesting we just get rid of an existing road simply because "Adelaide has plenty of other laneways" and lack of taste because you would actually wish to lose such interesting streets uneccesarily. I didn't say those characteristics were related but in this case they both apply to your comments.

And it's true, you didn't have a go at me for my opinion but you are having a go at the council for their opinions. What's the difference?

Anyway, I shall move on.

The original building included some but not all of the buildings. The neighbouring building's tenants opposed the development quite vocally, so the developer brought the building and now proposes to demolish it.

This is in the DAP agenda for next week. The aganda is on the ACC website. Looks like the developer is still going to demolish the old buildings.

This development will once again come before the ACC this coming Monday.

The developers have taken into consideration the council's request to incorporate the buildings along Gilbert Place and Peel Street into the facade. However the developers have expressed that incorporating such structures would be too difficult and require great alterations to the proposed building. Furthermore as it currently stands the current buildings do not interact well with the street. The same cannot be said about the proposed tower, which will incorporate tenancies at the ground floor which can accomodate cafe or restaurants.

However, the developers have ammended the proposed development.

There will be a change in the material used for the podium façades. Instead of white marble, the building will now be clad in smooth sandstone. The facade will have split face sandstone inlays running horizontally through the façade with additional dark bronzed anodised aluminium panels running vertically.

Furthermore the podium levels to both Peel Street and Gilbert Place have been broken up into 2 parts, with different heights to better reflect the heights of the other buildings in the locallity.

As such, the revised proposal should receive PLANNING APPROVAL by the ACC this Monday.

I agree. The alterations required to the existing buildings in Gilbert Place will be quite substantial at ground-floor level to achieve the same pedestrian traffic as that proposed in the existing plan.

I have yet to see any renders of what the podium would look like let alone the facades.

All I took notice of the proposals and renders are the glasses and the wave curve towards the top of the building. Am I missing something here? Does anyone have the renders of the podium or entrance?

Look a few pages back in the thread, they've been posted more than once by me alone.
