Awesome... This should/must get the green light tonight.

Excellent! I do like those copper/bronze...things. Is that facade some kind of sandstone or marble?
[CAN] Re: #Approved: 20-22 Currie St - 123m, 31 lvls
i believe tonight is Development Planning Approval (a big milestone in itself), with another step required before actual Development Approval is granted (at which point building can commence). Right?Pistol78 wrote:Awesome... This should/must get the green light tonight.

The Gilbert Pl. piccy is great - far better than other proposals I've read and heard about. Has a definite 'city' ambience to it. IMO Adelaide has passed a trigger stage in evolution out of the 'sleepy big town stage' (so many level at it) into a true city. The mineral boom and the tramline I think were the trigger - this enhances it. Brisbane had a trigger in 1988 with world expo - rapidly changed after that.
Also really anticipating the DAP result.
BTW Omicron - the copper/brass things are commonly called street cantilevers - much needed in cities for pedestrians - people friendly.

from section 2.1 of the amended proposal ==> "The material of the façade has changed to smooth sandstone facing to replace the previously proposed white marble. These façade will have split face sandstone inlays running horizontally through the façade with additional dark bronzed anodised aluminium panels running vertically". You can read more here starting from the page that has 3164 at the top ==> http://www.adelaidecitycouncil.com/Netc ... _18DAP.pdfOmicron wrote:Excellent! I do like those copper/bronze...things. Outstanding! Fresh new sandstone will be something a bit different from recent constructions, and it looks fantastic if it is kept clean. The other day I headed down Gilbert Place and Currie Street, and it has really dawned on me just how much of a powerful presence this building is going to have.Wayno wrote:from section 2.1 of the amended proposal ==> "The material of the façade has changed to smooth sandstone facing to replace the previously proposed white marble. Those renders are fantastic. Where did you get them? Were they on the ACC website?

I am just hoping that Buisness are not the only ones to enjoy such a building. Give us an Observation Deck!!! LMAO
Work It

Don't get sucked in by sexy renders. When looking at a render consider the same picture without the added in people, dull light conditions and the expensive finishes replaced with cheaper ones. If you think it still looks good then get excited.Ben wrote:Thats a massive improvement!
If we photoshop in some extra people in the existing streetscape it would look better than this render. Far too many blank walls for my liking or for making a vibrant street. The only contributors to street life are the existing cafe and hotel. Remember the entry is only a secondary entrance and will have limited activity like the sidestreet entrances of myer and david jones
Note the cardboard boxes out for recycling in the bottom left hand corner. ACC should be working with business owners to develop a collection system that does not allow recycling to clog up our footpaths.

I noticed that too mate. Surely with expected outdoor dining the ACC will look at that and bin collection from another location. I think they should look at getting rid of the car parks in the pics, widening the opposite side footpath and have both footpaths available for outside dining with shared vechile and pedestrian access. Would give it a real European feel about it.Note the cardboard boxes out for recycling in the bottom left hand corner. Great work too by the way Wayno.
