Thanks for the photo updates guys.
I wonder whether they'll use the same solar glass as the new tram stop shelters?

After several months of not much happening (mainly to allow for the platform infill to settle to create a solid surface), the guys down on the site are really putting the foot down and things are moving along very quickly. SRW, they appear to be using the same roofing material as at Mawson Lakes. At the rate they are going, they could very well finish everything by the end of next month if not sooner. The construction of Mawson Lakes station (which I also have photos for since it is only 1.2kms from where I live) went in a similar pattern of not much happening for a long time before everything going up at a very fast pace.
Train through the new station. This service was briefly brought to a halt by a contractor talking to the driver.
New carpark lighting going in at a rapid rate.
New carpark. From what I have read, the existing carpark at Oaklands station will be retained and incorperated into the new facility (probably be very hard to miss a spot!).
Overview of the station site from the southern side of the area.
New platform ramps (both completed and being installed) at the western end of the platform.
More photos will be coming soon. I have had a very long day and I am about to sleep on the keyboard. I have to say though, with the heavy rail, concrete sleepers, clean ballast and modern station going up, it is truly a breath of fresh air in Adelaide (as well as Mawson Lakes) compared to the garbage we have around the rest of the system. Atleast it is a sign things are (slowly) getting better.

Much appreciated Will. Great shots there!
I'll be dancing on the demolished remains of the old station once this is finished.

Thanks for those photos Will. I think I'll be dancing on the new platform once this is finished.

It would progress really quickly if they could do 1-2 new stations per year, re-sleepering 1 line per year as well as electrification which would hopefully be done straight after the re-sleepering... :wank: :wank: :wank:Will409 wrote:Atleast it is a sign things are (slowly) getting better.

work is now progressing on the station signs now - by which i mean the long signs similar to the mawson interchange below:
Interestingly the ones at oaklands at the moment are red. would have thought they would have been blue to match the rest of the stations on the noarlunga line

Any chance of there being high-rise development next to the interchange? i've not been to that area in a looong time - forget what the surrounding area looks like. Lots of 1960's houses perhaps? I know Westfield is up the road a bit...
Opportunity is missed by most people because it is dressed in overalls and looks like work.
[COM] Re: Oaklands Park Interchange
There isn't any there but when we do see non-coastal high rise developments in the suburbs, i reckon marion would be a prime candidate
