return of the adelaide grand prix?

i know its been brought up a few times befor but im a new user and want to find out the thoughts of adelaide bidding for the grand prix for 2011 and onwards, would anybody here like to see the grand prix return to adelaide? or is the clipsal bigger and better or can we hold both? clipsal in march/april and have the grand prix in november like it used to be? i was only 12 yrs old when the vics pinched the grand prix off of us and i would love to witness the the whole "adelaide alive" with the grand prix. can adelaide afford to hold both?

I would think that if only for the demands of FOA, the event would be a wonderful event for Adelaide to host again. We have shown time and time again that the Adelaide street circuit offers exciting racing, and that the city is able to provide an atmosphere that is remarkably unique in this age of purpose-built tracks. Unfortunately, the annual fee, the apparent need for a night-time race, and all the other demands of Mr. Eccelstone and his minions, as well as the success of the Clipsal 500 drawing away people's savings and time-off planning from any additional motor-racing event, would potentially limit the actual success of any such bid.

As it stands, I would prefer a further injection of funds into the budgets of the Adelaide Festival and the Fringe, as well as their associated festivals, before I would support a much larger commitment to the staging of the Grand Prix. They have the potential to be just as significant an international drawcard as any Grand Prix - just look at the influence of tourists that the Edinburgh Fringe has upon that city.

Ecclestone again questions Australia future

Formula One supremo Bernie Ecclestone says it is unlikely that he will extend the contract for the Australian Grand Prix beyond 2010, with event organisers reluctant to make it a night race.

Ecclestone made it clear earlier this year that the future of the race would depend on it becoming a night race, so the event could take place at a time more suitable for a European television audience.

However, with Melbourne organisers not keen to make the switch because of the high costs involved in lighting a track, Ecclestone has suggested that F1 could drop the Australian GP when the current contract comes to an end.

Speaking to the Mail on Sunday, Ecclestone said: "The only way the race could stay in Melbourne, or anywhere else in Australia, is if it is staged during the night so that the public in Europe can watch it.

"At the moment, it is ridiculous that people are asked not to sleep in order to see it live. That can't carry on.

"The alternative is to pull the race completely from Australia. I've spoken to (new prime minister) Kevin Rudd and he's told me it would cost too much to re-stage the race, so I guess that's it. We won't be going to Australia for too much longer."

Mate, consider it gone from Aust shores. Too much inuendo from both Adelaide and Melbourne governments.

An Adelaide night GP would work well in my opinion. We had the one LeMans night race, and that went well.

I hear all the story's from my old man about the F1 being in Adelaide, id love to experience those olds days, bring back v12's and turbo I say, but now a days f1 is all about the money and is less about racing and more about lining people pockets with cash and we are going to lose the Grand Prix simply because their are other entities that are willing to pay Bernie what he wants and still lick clean his shoes by racing at night.
