Thanks for that. I asked on another thread as to the cranes in the Coglin area. Once I saw photos of 4, then I saw two when I came to Adelaide in Jan, then someone said three (the latest info I used - not living in Adelaide). Still, very exciting developments going on.

i remember that photo, i think it gave the illusion that there were 4 cranes, but really it was 2 on sa water and one of each of the coglin street buildings.

This'll be good for the square. I think the bottom half looks a bit too blocky, but at least the ground floor's open to the street

I hade a look at the site late last night.

There os quite a lot of steel reinforcing work going on so imagine a concrete pour is on the way in addition to the pile foundations.

I had not really understood how crowded and difficult this building site was until I had a good look at it, with not a lot of spare room at all.

I would say it is permanent as they are bronze statues.
Sorry to dig this up but I stumbled across an old post by Ben.

They're only around for six months. Strange.

Update from this afternoon:

BTW that new 'kids' playground has to be one of the more popular areas of the city at the moment.

Just curious, have they started any foundation digging or concrete pouring or does the site still have no 'action' :?: Is this development going to have a basement level :?:

I investigated it just the area other day; it seems that teenagers of a certain subculture have taken to congregating in amongst the sculptures -- which could be a good thing really, supposing it means they'll emigrate from the Mall entirely. On a more serious note, I did notice a few foreign tourists (a Russian family and two Germans, to be precise) scratching their heads at the sight.

Has anyone actually seen any kids using it? (ie the target audience) Every time I've gone past it's been deserted. Even during the school breaks and weekends.

i went there with my young daughter who got bored after about 3mins. It might look interesting from afar, but it's not really an interactive playground.
Opportunity is missed by most people because it is dressed in overalls and looks like work.

That kids sculpture thing looks horendous .. you are right, everytime I have gone past there is not one child playing there, infact I have never seen a human within 2 metres of those things .. for the amount of time the square was bordered up and work done on that thing I thought it would be much better .. at least a swing perhaps ..

Haven't gone to see the site but drove past today and saw a reinforced column on Grenfell Street boundary. That should mean concrete has already been poured. Yes, there's a basement car park.
