Agreed! Elizabeth shopping centre wasn't exactly built on a massive budget, but they at least managed to put some style and imagination into the design, and ended up with a building that looks pleasant both inside and out.
It's also has a unique style about it and doesn't look exactly the same as other centres.

Went to TTP yesterday and noticed they have marked out the location of various underground infrastructure in the carpark between the Coles entry, Big W entry and Tea Tree Plus.
At least that shows they're serious about doing something I suppose.

Anyone heard any updates on this? I assume at this late in the year it wont be starting until next year, or it would cause too much interruption for the xmas shopping?

I thought Marion would be the largest in Australia when finished. That is until some other shopping complex interstate will take over like usuall.

No, Chadstone is already bigger as it is right now.

Bondi Junction is pretty big too? Is it bigger than Chadstone?
What has happened to this upgrade, TTP still looks the same! Maybe Westfield is a bit weary after what happened to Centro.

My sources tell me May 2008 is the start date at this stage.

I saw the plans today and final approval has been granted. Westfield is now signing up retailers to the new tenancies and working out final preparations with retailers that will need to be temporarily or permanently relocated within the centre to facilitate the development.
I believe the start date is this May, so expect to see some activity over the coming weeks with some shops relocating and construction equipment moving in.

It's not much, but worth noting that Westfield has started to introduce their branding into the tea tree plus centre, which although Westfield has owned it for a number of years now, had previously had its own branding and was made to look as if it were completely separate from Westfield.
Now there are Westfield signs all through it, so that could be a sign things are about to start happening?

From what I understand, they don't own it, AMP does. Westfield manage it.

Well I don't know for sure, but I would assume Westfield must have at least some ownership of Tea Tree Plus, otherwise how can they go about physically joining it onto tea tree plaza and making it all one centre?AtD wrote:From what I understand, they don't own it, AMP does. Westfield manage it.

A joint venture - mutually beneficial. It's quite common, actually. For example, Coles owns shopping centres with Woolworths brands as tenants, and vice versa.
