Sounds promising, I doubt it'll eventuate into anything major, but I would hope for something on the scale like Pascot House, which is on KWS just next or the building after the Origin Energy on corner of Nth Tce and KWS. The land size appears similiar.

That would be a rather awkward site to be planning a new building on if a developer were to buy up and use both sites. Still, I've seen large buildings developed on more awkward sites than those two.

I was having a chat to the owner of Out of the Blue Cafe next door and he seems to think that student accomodation is going up there. 5 levels.Buildit wrote:Looks like another project could be in the pipline soon across the road. 2 Blocks are up for sale. Check out the link

This building site seems pretty messy most of the time and not a lot of progress made. Not sure why, maybe there are not enough construction staff there but the past few weeks have seen not a lot happen compared to other CBD construction sites.
Maybe they are vying with the Conservatory contractors to set the longest time for an Adelaide building to reach ground level.

I think it had a lot to do with that northern boundary wall needing to be made stable plus the very large size of this site. They couldn't adopt a whole of site approach to excavations/piling thanks to the northern boundary wall issue. Plus I would think they were partly holding out for the recent approval for an extra storey which could have impacted on some of the foundation works. Plus I think there were complaints about truck access to the site from the lane to the NE of the site, so they had to gain access from the south again and rebuild that access ramp.
Anyway the approval has now been granted and a fair bit of the hard foundation/excavation work has occurred. It looks like this will be a steel frame job like their other record breaking project at Lot 8 and once the foundations are complete and the steel work starts I would say it will go up very quickly.

I think preparations are being made on KW street for a crane base. Looks like the main concrete pour will be in the next week or so.

Thanks heaps for the pics Ben. Much appreciated. There is progress at this site, it has just been slow to date as mentioned already. Hopefully it will really kick into gear soon. Nice big core pit in that pic too. Thanks once again.

The people across the road would have thought it rather humorous to see someone fall out of the carpark, clicking furiously away on his camera.Ben wrote:From Today:

Had a quick glimpse at this one this morning. It looks like the core may be starting to take shape. Can anyone (maybe Ben with his birdseye view) confirm this?

Yep core action is going on and Western foundations are complete as well. Crane shouldn't be too far away. From today:
