The Tonsley line hasn't been earmarked for upgrading otherwise it would've been mentioned. Other then at Tonsley station itself which has some really poor track, the Tonsley line itself isn't in too bad a shape which can be partly attributed to the lighter usage compared to the Noarlunga line. I should also point out that only the upper half of the Belair line from Sleeps Hill Tunnel to Belair will be upgraded. The section from the Adelaide Yard Limit to Sleeps Hill Tunnel will be left as is.
One thing I am looking forward too is the apparent increase in maximum speed on the Noarlunga line from 90km/h to 110km/h.
Final Report - Page 12, section 3.2, point 10 wrote:-Will provide a track structure that can allow an increase in train speeds from 90 km/hr to 110
km/hr;

The Tonsley branch line is a complete waste of time. great to hear about the upgrade though.
Although if they could now resleeper the Gawler line and do something about the painfully slow speed restrictions on the outer harbor line, I will be happy

The Port Adelaide bridge that is amazing that it hasn't fallen down yet.
In between Woodville and Woodville Park stations, due to the stations being so stupidly close (it must seriously be less than 500 metres, you can walk that distance you slack arses out there)
And where the track switches to one track in between Midlunga and Osborne, Why they ripped up the second track that used to run all the way to Outer harbor and the loop at the end of the line so the driver didn't have to change ends is completely beyond me. (they did this about 13 years ago)

Yes, the Port Adelaice Viaduct is the once piece of infrastructure that really pisses me off. They should really rebuild it or something.

Which is understandable considering the extremely sharp curve radii at Ethelton, another sharp curve on Commercial Road viaduct which is an 'open deck' style bridge and finally, a few seats of dual gauge points between Port Adelaide and Alberton. If something is damaged on dual gauge points, it is really expensive to fix as well as extremely expensive to manufacture.

It has always been my top song and with the country side between Munno Para and Tambelin, I just couldn't resist bringing to the two together since they do work so well. I personally wish I had the music volume higher but none the less, I got the desired result.
Did you end up noticing the Redhen horn I spliced in as well as the train approached Kings Road level crossing at Parafield on the way back from Gawler?

The tonsley line has a lot of potential though.. They could get 5x as much patronage if they extended it 100m south into an interchange, there are a tremendous amount of buses that pass through there.

yep i tend to agree. Shame to close it.
Was it well patronised by mitsubishi workers? If so i'm sure the industry replacing mitsubishi would be similar. Also perhaps make the public carpark larger to create a true interchange
If it was closed what could the land be used for? housing?
Opportunity is missed by most people because it is dressed in overalls and looks like work.

In my opinion they should be at least investigating the possibility of using the mitsubishi site for a large low to medium density housing development. Being that close to the train line it would be a perfect transit oriented development, and as a release in housing stock it would go some way to addressing the "housing shortage" (assuming such a thing exists, and its not just something constructed by real estate industry spin doctors to make people borrow too much for overvalued houses)
Unfortunately they ruled out the possibility of using that site for housing very early in the piece.
