That City West Connector is a step in the right direction. However it has major problems. I hate they way the governments of the present day build two lane roads for major connectors and then wait years and upgarde it to 4 lanes. It needs to be 4 lanes from the start to attract the cars onto it. Also a lack of an overpass over Sir Donald Bradman Drive is a huge flaw as they could have constructed one there with a fair bit of space. I have had to wait at those lights for ages. Who is going to take a route where you have to wait at lights for so long after just starting your journey on the road? It really is a half-ars*d job at a decent major connector road. Glad they have turned the other section to 4 lanes as it needed it. Good luck getting the traffic from West Terrace onto the new City West Connector until it is atleast 4 lanes and is upgraded further north as well.

I agree with every body elses comments regarding West Terrace. It is a very dissapointing welcome into the city for people coming into the CBD from Glenelg, the airport or Port Adelaide. The street looks dated, and it looks very industrial. I think that it needs a makeover immediately. First I would suggest they get rid of all the overhead power cables and the ugly stobie poles. Plane Trees could also be planted along the nature strip in the middle.

Yeh, agree with that.

Bradman Drive and West Tce are not great introductions to the city. The Don's road has improved a bit lately, but there'd have to be a lot more work go into it to get it looking decent.

There was a colour render and a half-page article in today's 'Tiser if anyone wants to waste $1.70 on it.

The developers behind this development have shelved the original proposal.

They have now submitted a new proposal for a 7 level building, which will now incorporate retail showrooms on the ground floor.

This development has been designated a category 2 application.

Does anyone know what happened to this proposal?

Bump for same question. No news is bad news. I think we can call this one dead.

I just searched this on the ACC web site. A 12 month extension of the planning approval was granted in January. It looks like this one still has a chance to go ahead. :D
