hah! my mother used to go to those places years ago when she lived there. I am annoyed that I didn't take any shots of the 'Fannie Bay Cool Spot' sign and the 'Dick Ward Drive' street sign
Pretty sure Dix & Fannies are long gone now, though there is a nightclub there called 'Ducks Nuts' which is pretty good IMO.

The Ducks Nuts was put into Administration by its owners 2 weeks ago
At this point they are still continuing to trade.

Thats a shame, though one night I went there it was packed then the night after it was pretty much dead especially the Vodka bar. Plus 'Ducks Nuts' has plenty of competition from other bars, wouldn't surprise me if Darwin has more bars/nightclubs per capita then any of other city.

I was just kidding. I mean, you know, your mum used to go to those places and so did I. You're left handed and so am I.
Did she work for a bank?

CRIKEY!
I lived in the Westpac Men's accommodation in Knuckey Street and often found myself at the Women's flats called 'Taran' in McLachlan Street.
We all used to socialise together at the then Don Hotel and obviously there were functions organised through the Bank's social club.
I probably know your mum!

You mean "could have"
I was there from 1983 to 1988 and again 1990 to 1998. My wife worked for Westpac during the same period, so I'm very sure she would know your mum.

It is but a wee small world that we live in.
Hey Crawf, what is your mum's first name and did she work at any particular branch? My wife is curious too!
By the way, I love your work on SCC. Shows your lefty, creative side!

I dunno, it's become a bit of a soap opera, we're all waiting for the episode where someone works out that they are someone else's father...
