I'm pretty sure the RAA were in that old YWCA building before they moved to the corner of Hindmarsh Square and Grenfell St.
cheers,
Rhino

They were in both, there was a breakout in the northern wall of the heritage building that connected the two.

It did start its life as a YWCA building. Built in 1900 as "Lady Colton Institute Building" it served as the YWCA's head office from soon after inception (20 years) to 1929 when the RAA first moved in. The RAA moved out in the 1950s and later repurchased the building in the 1980s and linked it to their new building, which has been demolished to make way for the current development.

The heritage building is "...one of the best surviving examples of Edwardian/federation style building in Adelaide with notable manneristic details interpreting neo-classicism..." (1990, ed Marsden Stark & Sumerling, Heritage of the City of Adelaide, ACC - which is a fascinating read by the way).
Exit on the right in the direction of travel.

They were, and their signage was above the entrance - http://xaragmata.mooo.com/album/adelaid ... /raa1.html
(I only ever knew it as RAA, so the YWCA history is interesting)

Thanks for that information - it is a lovely old building.

The new Conservatory building had a concrete pour this morning on the lift well so I would think another core rise is iminent. Also the formwork for the third floor of the carpark has already started so they could average to build a floor every 10 days at this rate

Thanks Mono - this is what I was after. Federation Bldgs always seemed 'heavy'/bulky at the expense of 'elegance', but are rightfully a style with it's own rather unique features.A pity this one will be virtually invisible soon.
On CHSQ - looking good and moving fast - better than what can be said for 400 KWS.
