New proposal I think. From the Messenger:
Brebner's tall story
Chantelle Kroehn

EIGHT THAT GREAT: An artist's impression of the Brebner Drv development.
ANOTHER eight-storey apartment complex will soon be built on Brebner Drv, West Lakes.
Charles Sturt Council's Development Assessment Panel (DAP) recently approved changes to the design of the building that will replace the West Lakes Palace Chinese Restaurant.
DAP members voted unanimously to allow the number of storeys to be increased from seven to eight, although the overall height remains unchanged at 31m.
"The extra storey was achieved through redesign of the interior of the building so that the overall building height did not increase above the previous approval," architect Vin Keneally said.
The 31-year-old Chinese restaurant was one of the first buildings constructed in West Lakes' commercial hub. A seven-storey version was approved by the DAP last April but new plans were submitted in March this year.
The number of units will be increased from 23 to 30, while the number of car parks will rise from 48 to 59. The twin tower apartment complex being built immediately north of the restaurant is also eight storeys.
The Weekly Times Messenger reported last September the DAP had approved changes to the design of the twin towers, which increased the number of storeys from seven to eight.
West Lakes Palace owner Siang Lee said work on the apartment complex was expected to start mid-year.
A scaled-down version of the Chinese restaurant will be included.

More West Lakes confusion! The twin tower complex (The West Lakes Collection) is being built immediately south of the restaurant,
next to the Lakes Resort Hotel. Infinity Waters is being built to the north of the restaurant, but some distance away.

I am pleased with the level of high density development in West Lakes. We can only hope that it increases! It seems that the City of Charles Sturt is approving these sorts of projects with minimal fuss; Holdfast Bay and Port Adelaide Enfield take note!

This is great news! West Lakes seems to be developing very fast with this type of building. More to come???
Looking over the water or nearby is a top location for such projects - a bit magnetic to such. (as along Brisbane river north bank going west). Might even get a rail/tram station/stop eventually???

Yes, between those two, and adjacent to The West Lakes Collection site ... like this:

There is a nice wall of mid rise buildings going up on the lake. It will look pretty spectacular driving along Military Rd in a couple of years.

Is the City of Charles Sturt giving the government a hint they want light rail up there?

It reminds me of Belconnen, ACT. A small collection of mid-rise buildings around a Westfield, on a lake.

West Lakes is a good location for suburban medium density because of the absence of historic character and historic buildings. I hope we see more of this type of development at West Lakes.

Demolition of the chinese restaurant should occur within 2-3 weeks.
Opportunity is missed by most people because it is dressed in overalls and looks like work.

The West Lakes Palace Chinese Restaurant is about to be demolished, & will be incorporated into the new apartment building.
From the Weekly Times Messenger:
http://weekly-times-messenger.whereiliv ... est-lakes/
Palace marks end of an era at West lakes
AN ERA ends this week for the West Lakes waterfront when the first commercial premises erected outside the shopping mall
will be bulldozed. The West Lakes Palace Chinese Restaurant will be replaced with an eight-storey apartment complex including
a scaled-down version of the restaurant. [...]
