PRO: Port Adelaide Tramline | $260m
Re: #Proposed : Port Adelaide Tram Line
that would be ideal, but extending it 100m will allow it to connect to the South Road busses that go through there. I would say on average they would come through about once a minute or less.

Re: #Proposed : Port Adelaide Tram Line
I see... while that would make it more convenient, I bet people already walk the 100m to make that connection if it's useful to them. 100m isn't far... Rundle Mall is about 500m long... it's over 100m from the Hilton to the eastern side of Victoria Square.muzzamo wrote:that would be ideal, but extending it 100m will allow it to connect to the South Road busses that go through there. Exit on the right in the direction of travel.
Re: #Proposed : Port Adelaide Tram Line
Isn't it a little strange the tram line is going only to the Entertainment Centre? How patronised to we expect that to be?
Or is it that that same line will be making it out to Semaphore and the Port - or are those suburbs going to be served by a tram/train hybrid?

Re: #Proposed : Port Adelaide Tram Line
Hindmarsh stadium will be serviced by it as well by stopping at the Entertainment centre.Splashmo wrote:Isn't it a little strange the tram line is going only to the Entertainment Centre? How patronised to we expect that to be?

Re: #Proposed : Port Adelaide Tram Line
Being developed as a park and ride station it will be pretty well patronised. From here it gives the govt the flexibility to extend tramlines down Port Rd or Grange Rd or both. Extending it down Grange Rd would provide a great catalyst for urban infill and regeneration between Hindmarsh and Grange.

Re: #Proposed : Port Adelaide Tram Line
That's what I thought too, then I read further and saw that they plan a park and ride facility (at a cost). Mind you, by the time you add two tram fares to the cost of parking near the Ent Cent it may not work out much cheaper than parking in the city. I don't want to jump to conclusions and will wait and see how it works but that would be my concern at the moment.Splashmo wrote:Isn't it a little strange the tram line is going only to the Entertainment Centre? Re: #Proposed : Port Adelaide Tram Line
It will connect with the existing Outer Harbour line, with the line being upgraded to allow hybrid train-trams.
Which would allow extensions to Port Adelaide CBD, West Lakes and Semaphore. Its a great vision IMO

Re: #Proposed : Port Adelaide Tram Line
Channel 7 news said the tram line will go down the middle of port rd to the entertainment centre, and then use the existing rail corridor (on the Nth side of port rd) for the remainder of the way down to port adelaide.Splashmo wrote:Isn't it a little strange the tram line is going only to the Entertainment Centre? Opportunity is missed by most people because it is dressed in overalls and looks like work.
Re: #Proposed : Port Adelaide Tram Line
um, they are resleepering the Belair line but not going to electrify it?

FUCK!

Maps, "renders" and all sorts! Trams outside the Port Adelaide lighthouse... Perth-style (?) trains in Oaklands Park... "trams coast-to-coast" (lol)... and that's just the 3 pages I've got though so far.
It's going to take me a week to take all of this in.

This is exciting! I can't wait to see some maps
If it goes down Port Road I will be able to catch the tram from my front door straight to work! At least until SAPOL moves

Re: #Proposed : Port Adelaide Tram Line
Bus lanes for Hackney Road! Gated O-Bahn interchanges! Wheeee!
BUT! The first thing I've found that I disagree with:
Sparks on the Grange line... WHY?
Oh well, I guess it's better than a Grange Freeway.
PLEASE let this get though the Senate!
(Yeah I need to calm down...)

Re: #Proposed : Port Adelaide Tram Line
Ok if we're getting trains identical to Perth by 2015 then they will already be an old design and old technology, we need something new and that will be unique not just a copy of an old design!!AtD wrote:Maps, "renders" and all sorts! But the budget sounds pretty good, bring on electrification!! and more trams!! still hoping for a city underground in the near future :wank:
I think Rann and the Labor party have my vote in the next election:)
