SA Tenders & Contracts website:
South Australian Police Headquarters
"Expressions of Interest are invited for the provision of a 5 star Green Star development or property, with a total net lettable area of approximately 18,000m2 and a large ground floor plate, that could accommodate the South Australian Police Headquarters. No Expression of Interest will necessarily be accepted."

Even at 1,200 sqm per floor we're looking at atleast a 15/16 level building. But floor plates are likely to be around 1,000sqm per floor and also they will have additional floors so about a 20 level?loud wrote:SA Tenders & Contracts website:

There would probably be a car parking requirement in addition...Ben wrote:Even at 1,200 sqm per floor we're looking at atleast a 15/16 level building. Thanks for that info loud. 18,000 is a solid requirement. It will be interesting to see what expressions of interest occur.
The large ground foor plate is interesting. We could easily end up with a ground scraper with 2,000m2 + floorplates as a result. Or a large ground floor plate and average size upper floors to deliver a higher building around 15 levels +. Will be interesting to see what eventuates.

No worries, I actually have the whole tender doc, but im pretty sure its subject to confidentiality agreement, so cant really say anything else about it...

Well, who wants to start betting which premises they'll take up?
105 Waymouth proposal looks to meet their expectations? Bit small maybe.
I was going to say the 42-56 Franklin St, but I think Telstra already has commited to that?

[COM] Re: $38m for new hi-tech police HQ
There's not a lot of car parking space at the current PHQ. I'd say less than a third of the ground floor and some police vehicle zones on Gawler Place and Flinders Street is about it. I guess it's because it's not really an major operational centre, mainly admin. But I think there are a few spaces over at State Centre car park, so if it were in a different part of the city they might need more.loud wrote:There would probably be a car parking requirement in addition...Ben wrote:Even at 1,200 sqm per floor we're looking at at least a 15/16 level building. The current PHQ on Flinders St is just under 14,000sqm over 12 levels with GF parking for 22 vehicles. I understand that the intention however is to consolidate operations that they have in Adelaide down to one (other sites probably also have parks). Also, whilst they only have 22 spaces at the moment, that was probably limited by the cost of building when it was constructed.

I had understood that Adelaide PS in Wakefield Street was to stay? I may be wrong, I just seem to remember reading it somewhere in the paperloud wrote: I understand that the intention however is to consolidate operations that they have in Adelaide down to one (other sites probably also have parks).
Hindley St PS I'm not sure, but I would have thought that would stay too.
One of the Senior Sgts at work says (of the proposed new PHQ) that he'll "believe it when I see it" - but that's a common SAPOL attitude (probably common in th e public sector generally)
We still use polaroids for ID photos

It would be nice to see the relocation of the office activities associated with police barracks on Port road to this proposed new building; this ( police barracks) must be one of the worst collections of buildings in Adelaide on such a high profile site.
