Car Workshop

#1 Post by canopy » Mon Jun 30, 2008 1:47 pm

Hi guys,

I just brought a 1998 Toyota Starlet auto and need to do some repair works. Can anyone recommend a good, reasonable price and reliable workshop around adelaide.
Need to do services, change timing belt and engine mounting.

cheers

You could take it down to my mechanic, but he usually deals with imported cars of a different variety. Shuan Duns @ Boostworx. Very honest, excellent service.

Cheers

CMI Toyota on West Terrace would be a good start, at least for an initial quote to judge your other quotes on.

Better off not going to the dealer I reckon. You can try a fellow named Greg at Ultratune Port Road (close to QEH), he does the servicing on my father's Charade.

The dealer rip-off is often a myth. I've had terrible experiences with Ultra Tune in particular, twice in fact. Paid $160 for a full service and $500 something for replacement of front struts. They done the shocks but never did the service and only my double checking of the plugs and air filter caught them out. They finally refunded me for the service but I'd never use them again.

The dealer will have it done quicker, by a tech thats done a hundred Starlet timing belts before plus you get a Toyota backed warranty on the work instead of Joe Blogs backyard warranty.

Like anything though, you get what you pay for.

Try anything with an RAA sign out the front.

just got a quo from Kmart auto, timing belt and services cost about 425aud. Find it not bad, will go for kmart.
For engine mounting will leave it at moment as the price to fix it very expensive.
