Application to the ACC for the superstructure works to commence. The height changes refer to the changes approved earlier this year I believe.

Hive of activity today, the first level permanent steel beams were being installed.

Walked over and had a look at the site yesterday. There was some concrete being poured on the northern foundation and some steel mesh being fiddled around with on what looks to be the lift core. No more concrete poured on the floor slab yet.

I had a good look at this one last night and it is a puzzle.
There does not appear to be any crane base or footings etc and all of the lifting is via mobile cranes operating at the basement level, accessed via a fairly muddy ramp up to the road level on the southern part of the site. Most of the basement level remains unsealed (ie mud) and only the western side of the steel structure, along KWS, has really started. That's how they can still operate in this way, because half of the site (ie the eastern half) has not realy started yet.
Up until now they can lift the structural steel from inside the site, using portable equipment etc and the access ramp to get things in and out. But there comes a time when the steelwok that forms the eastern half of the building arrives. What then? With the flloors going in and steel everywhere it will not be possible to use the partable cranes on the basement floor.
Maybe they will use a free-standing crane or install something on the southern and northern ends. But for a builing that is 90 m long, it will be interesting to see how they manage to get the materials up in the air.
Maybe that's what they discuss most of the day in the lunchroom?

It's a bit of an embarrasing project to watch. Goodness knows what the funding people or the arcihitects must think or do, but I would not be putting up with the lack of energy and progress.

Well they are on site just not ON site they are in the lunchroom. I walked past this morning and assure you they were there. As for the other 2 sites in the area. Maybe in minor residential projects they have mondays as RDO's but not in major CBD buildings.

I'm starting to think that this building will get one core located Hammerhead crane.

Yea that makes good sense - with 90 m to cover they will need a pretty long boom from the centre. No real room for mush on the northern boundary.
Maybe they will use a remote controlled crane for this project, with a flat TV screen and joy stick located in the warm and comfy lunchroom?
