Given that effective as of today the IDAC assume control, I am lead to believe that there are no height limits in place (or until they release legislation that says so otherwise). The ACC's limitations still apply to developments under $10m as far as I'm concerned.Will409 wrote:With the change in planning powers from the ACC to the State Government, will the various height restrictions we currently have in place be removed or atleast raised to a decent level?

Well i'm afraid to say this was bound to happen it was just a matter of time . There are serrious people, developers especially that mean business out there. The ACC should have realized that Adelaide is gaining world focus, and it can't have a small town council mentality blocking progress.

Shouldn't this been relocated to the General Development subforum not the Pub.

How soon would you expect Westpac-sized proposals to be put forth? I'm putting the money on something by end of August.

Finally projects can get done without the hesitation and whinging and give adelaide some
good ground in catching up with the other major cities
Düsseldorfer, that looks awsome. hopefully thats what'll happen
why do we hav those height restrictions anyway?

Re: News from the ACC
With the State Govt taking control of $10+m projects, this is the perfect time to introduce a Chief Architect. You just have to look at what was proposed for the old Le Cornu site in Nth Adelaide to see the aesthetic risk we run by not having one...

Watching the Ten News report on the steal, Harbison appeared unfussed about it which suprised me.
Re: ACC Stripped of Powers!
When is this likley to take effect? I know it has been anounced but will this anouncment be in force strating from tomorrow?

Re: ACC Stripped of Powers!
Theres 2 sets of height restrictions - the ACC's are now rendered obsolete as of today unless a development under $10m is proposed for the city, which they are still in compliance with. And the CASA height restrictions, otherwise known as PAN-OPS - which is a flight path clearance zone (used as a safety measure). These are much more complex though, because of variants to flight arrangements across the CBD.russo92 wrote:Finally projects can get done without the hesitation and whinging and give adelaide some

Re: News from the ACC
So a Grandstand in Vic Park valued at $10,000,000.05 won't need council approval any more? neither will a waterfront entertainment precinct on the railyards! [jumps for joy]

I bet they will have a massive whinge. Whinge Whinge Whinge. then they will realise everyone is happy they no longer hold any power.
I say cut all the counsellors pay by 25% too because they wont doing as much. And Harbos pay should be halved he gets paid WAYYYY to much.

Re: News from the ACC
This is incredibly good news. I really don't think we appreciate just how much this can change our city. As Wayno mentioned a chief architect must be put in place, someone who is not scared of height!
