Better late than on time? Maybe not...

Cheers mono, yep the more I see of this building the more I want it demolished.
Would be good if Da Costa arcade got redeveloped aswell

just looking at that carpark, I noticed in todays Advertiser, of the cost of car parking in each CBD. Adelaide's was exceptionally low compared the Syd, Bris, Perth. This means one thing - there's far too much supply of car parking in our CBD. I prefer the other way around as this would encourage PT use

I used to laugh working in Central Market UPark. Some of the locals would complain bitterly about the $2.40 or so charge for under two hours. Then I'd get a visitor from Sydney or Melbourne who'd been in for a few hours rejoice in amazement that the charge was around $10 and not the $30 they expected.jk1237 wrote:just looking at that carpark, I noticed in todays Advertiser, of the cost of car parking in each CBD. It used to be the council's UParks that kept the prices low, because of the vested interest of the local retailers. I'm not sure if this is still the case.

Great news. Harris Scarfe's and the carpark going would be lovely. I've often waited at those pedestrian lights thinking what a sh1tty sight that carpark is. The more it was tarted up the more I disliked it.
Can't wait to walk down Wyatt towards Grenfell with some decent height in full view.

It's a 19 level buildingcrawf wrote:Shuz wrote:I would surely expect that the 14 level office tower would be located at 90 Grenfell Street, and that a new laneway be built in place of 79 Rundle Mall to connect with the existing laneway that runs east of Francis Street to accomodate for deliveries and the such. Makes logical sense.
It's a 14 level OFFICE tower atop a 4 storey + ground floor retail podium! I did get my stats right at first you know.

At this stage, it clearly is nothing to do with it. I am however, suggesting that it would be interesting if it did. Why? Do you not want to see this building go?shiftaling wrote:Someone please reassure me that Laubman and Pank on Gawler is nothing to do with this - From the rest of the thread, I don't think it is, but I am hopeless with street numbers, until I see a map I have no idealoud wrote:I wonder if this development could be modified to take in the three buildings on Gawler Place that have been up for sale for ages now: Laubman & Pank, Allans Music & Gritti Palace...

aerial shot of site, taken from roof of Chesser House... pretty shitty - but i took it a while back and wasn't particularly focused on Harris Scarfe (or anything in particular!)

Does anyone have a photo of the orange building on the corner of Gawler Place. I have no idea what its called. If its the one I'm thinking of, I think it should stay (heritage). It's got a very 50's/60's English look to it.

It would be nice to stand outside a shiny new building while waiting for the bus on Grenfell Street.
[COM] Re: #Proposed: 79-91 Rundle Mall, 19 Storey Office and Retail
I catch the bus infont of black stump and looking north .. some of the building on Grenfell St are disgusting .. the worst is the GHD (I think) building on the Nth-East cnr. of Grenfell and Gawler. Green and ghaustly .. needs a major face-lift.
Also the City Cross building is wedged between two 12 storey buildings .. so to brighten the mass of concrete walls on either side I propose a massive wall murel or one of those massive posters drapped over the walls over say 8 storeys .. could have advertising or something promoting the city of Adelaide .. it gets boring staring at concrete and cars whilst waiting for the late arrival of my bus!!!!

I wish a 20lvl+ building was built on-top of City Cross.
There was once plans for this, shame it never happened.

I completley agree, what a waste of space. City Cross has got to be in one of the best locations in Adelaide and yet the space has gone to waste!crawf wrote:I wish a 20lvl+ building was built on-top of City Cross.

My understanding is that when they re-developed City Cross the concrete roof of the building was engineered so it could support a 20-storey tower...so one day your wish may come true. Maybe thats why it took so long to build.
