This is going to look fantastic at night, and even catch attention during the day.
I think this is going to change the east end of Adelaide, and hopefully the success of this will further create more proposals for different street ambiance art throughout our streets.
I don't think we should be complaining about the whole car-park being covered, because its not going to happen anyway . . least we are getting this!

We received a briefing paper yesterday – lights are on their way and it should be up around September.

Rock on September, this thing should look very cool. If I owned a tow truck I'd be stationing myself at that intersection for the first Saturday night.

Here's the actual website:
http://www.flare-facade.com/
Has a bit more info and streaming version of the video which seems to load quicker.

I've actually seen a flare style installation in person - they had it at Disney World - Epcot. It's impressive but the rams cost a lot of money to run. And they require a fair amount of maintenance. So much so that Imagineering switched it off for about 2 years before they pulled down the show building it was in.

I’m happy to be accused of being optimistic!
I have pursued some info from staff and it is expensive…around 3 times more per square metre than the Lantern – not worth it in its “experimental†form.

Spot on Councillor, I'm sure most of us would happily take three more lantern displays around the city over a single flare display at that price. I imagine the cost of maintaining a thousand or so rams would be pretty horrendous over time also. Nice to see you exploring all the options though!

Another Lantern style facade on the car park section of Conservatory would look brilliant!! Tying in two areas of the city would be awesome!

I've been watching the guys install the brackets over the past few weeks. Recently they've been blocking off the left turn lane on Rundle street late at night and driving a scissor lift along to do the lower levels.
Getting closer!
