It is a real scenario. And every single part of the explanation is true and correct in respect of what happened.

I wouldn't be that free to post up a fake story just to defame them.

I've already detailed down the specific information of the particular stores in which these incidents occurred, which is better than just generalising the entire retailers in Adelaide.

Well I can't really list down all the said retailers in the topic can't I?

no you cant..

but you claimed you did not generalise 'the entire retailers of Adelaide' in a negative manner

when infact you did in the title "Retailer Salesperson Quality in Adelaide - VERY POOR!"

maybe a more appropirate title could have left out the 'VERY POOR!' and that would back your statement of not generalising, after all there were comments positive comments about certain retailers in your initial post.

HA. Let me ask you, who reviews you reviewers? If you come into a store with a bad attitude, then, we never appreciate it. Your knowledge of how a store works is obviously quite poor. Lets look at the situation. You knew what some of the products were that you wanted before going into some store, but still played ignorant. Time wasting. At electronic stores, and car stores, we have certain quotas to meet, and we get in strife if we don't meet them. Therefore, although we are always happy to help out, time wasters are not welcome. Also, it is a drawn out process to work out a 'best price' and hence, the retailer asking you about if you were ready to buy then and there was his method of separating sheep from goats as it were. If you had just said yes, I want to buy now, he would have gladly worked it out for you. Its not bull****, not at all, and you 'correcting him' as you say, is just a pompous attitude that would have made the retailer less happy to help you still.

Awakes from 2007.

If I am ready to buy a salesperson's offer, I'll take it and I'll buy.

If you (salesperson) are uncertain of the price you are willing to let go of your sales, then who is the time waster?

At the end of the day, if you cannot offer me (a customer) what you can offer best and refused to negotiate, I would be happy to walk next door and purchase from someone who gives me better service despite a slightly higher price.

It is a shame to the Strathfield store in the city, they've got bargain at years end and also around end of financial year. I went in (for my very absolute last time) wanting to purchase a monoblock amplifier they have. With the shitty attitude I received when asking for the selling price (no price tag attached), I am disgusted despite its good price.

I walked 30 meters up Gouger St into Tonkins, a store I always knew is going to sell at a slightly higher margin compared to competitors, and I walked out paying more but extremely satisfied with the service I am getting.

If you have to meet certain quotas of sales per day, every single customer you serve for the day might made a difference between you reaching your quota or you don't. Bargain hunting or hunting for best prices is not time wasting, it's called Consumer Choices, if this is not permitted, then obviously you are not consumer oriented and shouldn't be the salesperson, or you don't know how the market works.

My knowledge of how a 'bad' store works is obviously quite poor like you said!

Oh and by the way, if you want to know how to meet quotas, speak CMI Toyota at Portside (next to Bunnings at Cheltnam)

My partner and I just bought a brand new Corolla, we walked in hoping to get the on-the-road price for these new model Corolla. It was a little higher than what we expected as we went for the automatic transmission as opposed to the $2000 cheaper manual model.

We had a bargain with the salesperson that served us, after numerous count of offers and counter offers, the sales person came to the conclusion that we can no longer meet our offer. He said in response to our offer:

"This is my best offer, $XX, XXX, I cannot do any lower for you, but if you cannot accept the price, I am sorry I cannot do any better than that"

Fine, we walked out of the showroom heading towards our car, and he came chasing us as we were about to get into our car, and shouted "Common! Last offer, $XX, XXX, come in and we can have another chat, I am doing this because you are walking away from us and we want your business"

Done Deal. Although the price is still slightly higher than what we had budgeted for, due to his determination and service, I think he is a champ, and he had my sales. Well, at the end of the day, they sold another car, and I am a happy customer.

Of course you must factor in that the average retail employee gets around $15 a hour.

Pay peanuts, get monkeys.

I was served by Anthony who was very professional and definitely knew what he was talking about. He was more than happy to take the time to explain the difference between each brand and model and was extremely helpful. I'd highly recommend you give them a go if you're after a Sat-Nav system.
I actually know Anthony personally and he is a top bloke. Highly recommended (yes I have no obvious bias  )

I think that is the base salary package + commission? Well, good service gives you higher commission at the end of the day.

No easy job gets a high pay, you gotta start somewhere, at this level of service, it gets you no where in the future, unless you are happy with $15/hour for the rest of your grumpy miserable life.

I know this thread is old and I wouldn't have seen it if it hadn't been bumped.. but this bit gave me a good laugh

Who wants to give me money?"
What kind of bloody attitude is that? It sounds like some kind of boxing day sale, or a massive sale at an auction house.

That did not sound very professional doesn't it? It's sad that most retailers here with very competitive prices in the market does not have a competitive customer service level to match up.
