They need a REAL crane - when is it coming? Anyone know?
BTW - Excellent pic Urban SG - makes the high rise look as though it already continues to VSQ.

Excellent pic update Will409, especially from the carpark. A fair bit of work has actually taken place. Also that looks like a foundation (just west of the core) for the crane that has been rumoured to go up in the centre of the site soon.

Thanks Will. Good to see progress on the floor plates.

Looks like a crane base going in from today?

Good to see, thanks for the pic Ben. I know one was due soon but I wonder if the accident on Friday made them get a proper crane on site sooner?

There was a fairly big protest/gathering outside this site today at around 12 noon with CFMEU banners and the like.

Construction workers hold protest
http://www.abc.net.au/news/stories/2008 ... 353505.htm
Construction site workers have protested against unsafe work conditions in Adelaide's CBD.
More than 100 workers gathered at Gillies Street calling for better access for health and safety representatives and tougher fines on companies.
A crane cage fell 12 floors at a site near Gouger Street last month and a steel beam fell over at a Gillies Street site last Friday.
Martin O'Malley from the Construction Union told the crowd that the company in charge of both sites, Kyren, must be held accountable.
"What's happening here is a reflection of the whole industry, every time we go on a job we find the same types of things," he said.
"The schedules are unrealistic and it has to be stopped and the State Government and the inspectors of the state have to stop using the carrot and start using the stick against these people."
Industrial Relations Minister Paul Caica says he is consulting all stakeholders on any legislative changes.
In a written statement, Kyren says it is cooperating with the SafeWork SA investigations.

It was on the TV news last night too. They interviewed a few of the union reps that didn't sound too happy with construction sites in general at the moment.
Was just looking through a few of Kyrens previous projects and they seem to like this mobile crane construction method. One example here (8 level Mill St Carpark).

Crane is being installed today. I'll take some pictures this afternoon when it's completed.

Yeah i saw them moving the crane in this morning on the way to work. These clowns
really know how to cause a SWP issue, by waiting to install the crane after they have
put in lots of beams etc etc, rather than putting it in at the beginning and using it
to build the building from scratch....
At least we should start to see some major construction happening now...
This building will be fab once complete.
