Last time I was in Northgate they were setting in the infrastructure (eg Roads, Water, Electricity, etc.), so I think this would be approved at least.AtD wrote:Thanks for that sacred june. Since the render includes some 5-story apartment blocks, it is the 131st project in the database.
Would anyone have an idea on the status of this? Since it has the SA Government as a backer, I would assume that it's at least Approved.

Re: Lightsview
The urban planning approach given to this project is quite different - for it has no cul-de-sacs that I can see of. I also like how they mimicked aspects of Light's Vision (the city grid layout) within the development, which adds to its character.
Re: Lightsview
ok ok, thats enough of this 'eastern suburb' stuff, considering its in the northern suburbs and the suburb is called NORTHgate.
Re: Lightsview
As a south-western suburbs boy, the thought of being able to see the CBD from a street on the Plains is a novel one indeed.

Re: Lightsview
i drive past it everyday. Some roads are built, others under construction. Things are progressing very fast, with a Display home open. Haven't had a chance to check it out though.
I can't believe they're calling it an "Eastern" Suburb. The fact that they put the word "eastern" in quotation says, to me, that they really don't believe it themselves. It's northeastern at best.
The only way it could be considered east were if you were dividing the city into ONLY East and West.

Re: Lightsview
you can see some of the early infrastructure work on google maps...
Opportunity is missed by most people because it is dressed in overalls and looks like work.
Re: The Terraces - Goodwood
Debacle finally ending !!
The development was caught up in a $120m collapse of financial backers interstate. Developer Bob Moore was in a dispute with builder Commercial and General over unpaid bills of around $2m. Accounts have been settled out of court. Work is expected to resume in a few weeks!!
The collapse of financier Secured Mortgage management caused the problems but also left 23 building projects idle and 400 investors languishing in the eastern states.
Anyway, ABOUT BLOODY TIME!!
Cheers

Re: The Terraces - Goodwood
Resuming. No plan changes I know of. Water is going to get pumped out in the next week - 10 days to let the site dry out and then we should see some constuction.Norman wrote:Good news, will they just resume or will they start from scratch?

Re: Lightsview
I think they are calling it an "eastern" suburb to give the impression of prestige. Supposedly Adelaides Eastern suburbs are prestigeous, although personally I don't like them at all. I'd much rather live almost anywhere else, especially somewhere like lightsview.
I love the idea of mimicking lights vision of layout.
To what extent are they doing this? Are they actually giving some of the streets the same names as those in Adelaide CBD?

Re: Lightsview
There really is no relationship between this and Light's plan. It's just a marketing tool. There's a model in the display centre on site, if you're interested.
The views are great, though.
