Z3's had roller blinds until 2007, not flippers and now have awful scolling destinations. I wouldn't say those are too archaic - air conditioning is not really needed, although they are relics compared to the modern low-floor articulated trams of up to 5 sections which are all the rage these days (like Adelaide's Flexities and Combinos in Melbourne).
Let's not forget which city was still using a fleet of exclusively 1920s built trams until a couple of years ago!

just had a quick look at that railpage website. Now I dont know if Will409 is joking or being serious, but due to overcrowding and a shortage of trams, we maybe getting some really really old trams from Budapest, Hungary.

The Budapest trams are either going to be leased or purchased by TransAdelaide as a stop gap measure in a similar vain to the Melbourne C2s from Mulhouse. The expected life span of these trams is going to be somewhere between 2 and 5 years. If you refer back a couple of pages, you will see the tender that has been let by the DTEI/TransAdelaide which goes into some more detail. I should point out that the link on the post is now dead although all the tender text has been quoted.

On Railpage, I most certainly wasn't pulling a fast one on everyone. I received a tip off from another member that the trams would be sourced from Budapest and followed another link to do some investigating. I found out that a number of the Budapest UV class are immediately available and are built to the same over all width of the Flexis at 2.4m wide as well as running on the same track gauge and overhead voltage. I never said that they will definately lease them but if you join all the dots together, it does all fit into place.
100% full DDA compliance will not be inforced for another few years and the 2 - 5 year operational time frame for these trams (should they or indeed another design that I havn't been informed about arrive) does fit with the estimated amount of time they would see in service.
I may very well be proven wrong but if you join all the dots together, it does make a certain degree of sense.

well there is no reason why they cant be used for the city shuttles, to free up the flexities for Glenelg and Ent Centre runs. They do look funny though. Imagine K W street with these running along. Do they have automatic doors Will409

From what video's I have seen of them on youtube, it looks like the doors are driver operated. I personally imagine that IF they do come here, they would probably be used in peak hour service only when the demand is greatest.
