That, or I'm making stuff up lol. But I'm fairly sure I remember this being 68m initially.
Yes, initially this one was originally proposed at 68m back in 2003, however that plan was rejected because it was too tall. Although I agree with the sentiments that it looks taller than 62m, the version that got approved and presumably being constructed is 62m.

Maybe they built it at 68m anyway!

What would happen if a developer actually did that? Built a building taller than they were approved to, because there's technically nothing the relevant planning authority could do about it (as the structures already built other than have a big whinge and take them to court to seek out financial reimbursement for miscompliance.

In other countries this sort of thing is quite common, better yet, large structures built without any building approval. Some authorities force the buildings to be demolished.

All I know is, KPMG wouldn't have moved out if the view from their board room wasn't going to be blocked... ;)

Hi guys,

Our mates James Hines from the Hines Group has sent us some more construction pics of Conservatory and 20HS.

Image
The above pic shows an excavated basement and perimeter piling in place at the 20HS site.

This pic shows Conservatory on Hindmarsh reaching level 14!

And here's the latest advertisement to appear on local media :

Thanks to James once again.

In almost every aspect, the Hines Group is to be commended for the way it has gone about these two projects. Regular site updates, regular advertising, successful sales campaigns and so on - all very professionally handled, especially when none of us have any financial interest in the development and hence the Group has no real obligation to provide us with anything.

V impressed with their keeping in contact with us. As Omi once said, professional approach. I see similar for the Lantern crowd and with Clr Yarwood. V appreciative of all this - must be getting known!

I pass this building to pick up my fiancee from work most days and have been amazed at the progress. As someone else mentioned, close enough to one level per week.

Got a question for those who are probably more experienced than me; why in Adelaide with buildings such as this, and the other one in Currie St. that will be close to Wesptac House height - why don't the excavate and have the carpark levels underground?! Why have all these beautiful new buildings going up, but have 4 levels above the ground floor taken up by carparking? The one near Currie St is having soemthing like 7 levels of carparking if I remember correctly!

Seems like such a shame to me when it could be used as office/retail space and have a further level of parking (or 3) underneath the building.

Cheers
Steve

I don't know for certain but I think it has something to do with it being much cheaper to build up then down.

I expect buyers would be willing to pay more for apartments that are higher off the ground, too - throwing in a few carpark levels above-ground makes for a taller building while maintaining the same number of apartments.

The remaining jump-form is being dismantled this weekend, for anyone interested in passing by.

Here's the latest round of pics from James Hines. This one is from the COH jump form yesterday, it's the equivalent of to the height of the top floor apartments.

Cheers James! :)

Pics taken today (corebox comming down today):

Love the glass, this northern elevation will get sun shades installed, hence the holes:

This corebox on this appears to be close to the same height as Wyatt House next door from many different perspectives:

damn shame this thing wasn't going higher .. another 10 or so floors would be awesome .. maybe not in line with the 'pyramid' theory I have heard about, but would be great none the less .. I guess that's where the Spire comes in?!
