[COM] Re: #COM: Rundle Lantern
A bit more information about what happened when we were there (I was typing on a N800 before):
We got there at about 7PM, and set up my friends HD (1080i) camera in front of the Rundle mall directory thingo.
About 5 minutes later, a channel 7 camera guy rocks up next to us, and starts setting up. He asks who we were with, and of course we said we were independent
A few minutes later, a woman from the council comes around, and gives us and the channel 7 guy media kits, which had printouts of the pages from the website, a CD with some high resolution copies of the pics from the website, and 2 free coffee vouchers!
About 5 minutes after that, a channel 9 camera guy rocks up, and sets up next to the channel 7 guy, and a few minutes later an ABC camera guy rocks up and sets up to the right of us.
Just as the lantern starts up, a young looking woman rushes over, and sticks her handbag in front of the pink light that was projecting onto the lantern. Turns out she was one of the team that designed the lantern, and the pink light was messing up the image. Unfortunately I didn't get to talk to her much, as she rushed off again to speak to her colleagues.
Later on, we went up the top of the Centrepoint carpark and got some footage from there, then went to the other carpark (the one with the lantern) and got some footage of the LED projectors in operation, and of the DJ and crowd below.
When the footage has been edited I'll host it on my website, probably in 720p, for all to see

great atmosphere tonight, and it looked great, and great for our city. There were too many people there to know who was from S-A, although I think I may have spotted someone that looks like Shuz.
I bumped into some family friends, who all thought that this is a temporary display, happening for 2 weeks and then get pulled down. I dont think they believed me when I said its here to stay.
Thanks for the video Howie, thats the part I missed.
I'm interested to see how many people will stand around and watch it each night, caus I reckon it will become a tourist attraction

Will (409), Adamo, Joely and I were down near the stage, Howie ducked out to the carpark, but that's all I saw in terms of people from S-A.

I was next to the coffee stall in the street - glad I made the effort to be there.Norman wrote:Will (409), Adamo, Joely and I were down near the stage, Howie ducked out to the carpark, but that's all I saw in terms of people from S-A.

It was awesome to meet you Norm and you other guys . What a fantastic display that was! I'm looking forward to seeing it every night when I'm in town. The perfect thing to brighten up those dark, depressing late uni nights

I was unable to get there last night but was lucky enough to view testing on Tues night. Thanks for all the pics and vids guys.
Just on a disappointing note after having read comments on Adelaidenow, it is so frustrating to read what some people are writting about this project. I encourage people to leave a positive comment and shoot down these idiots that constantly complain about our city and any progress we make.
